A hit with a .22LR round in the spine, or lodged deeply into brain tissue will stop deer, and even a 300+ pound grizzley bear dead in its tracks. The only problem is getting that well placed shot.

A person, YES. One of the weapons of choice for paid killers is a .22, some even opt for shorts. Two shots to the head up close and personal will do the deed. It has the added advantage of not being too loud and through and through's seldom happen. The projectiles stay in the head normally.

Varmints, YES. A well placed shot on animals the size of big rabbits will dispatch most of them. I would recommend keeping your shots down to about 60 yards maximum. I killed one rabbit at 190 yards. I paced it along with my Dad and did the count separately. We agreed that it was short of 200 but not very much. I think he had it 192 and I had it a 189.

Big Game, that's a maybe. It won't work on the likes of rhinos or elephants but well placed shot, using good hot mini-magnum cartridge, in a tight breeched rifle, at close range (15 yards or so), with a whole bunch of luck could kill a small deer. But honestly, everything would have to be perfect and you are far far more likely to wound the animal and have it run for days. It will probably eventually die but it could be in another state. Very few places allow anything that light for any kind of hunting save small varmints.

It is meant for varmit hunting if you're hunting anything.

.22LR has very limited stopping power, but that doesn't mean no killing power. If someone is shot in the center of mass with a .22LR round, it's likely not going to put them on the ground right there and then, but it can damage organs, cause infections and lead a person to die a week later in the hospital.

Why would you want to ask such a question about what will or will not kill a person?
If you are interested in self-defense there are better ways to ask the question that will garner more and accurate information without making you sound like the next Seung Hui Cho.
Is it any wonder anti-gunners and those on the fence think gun owners are a bunch of nutty, blood-thirsty killers waiting to open up on a classroom of kids.

When I was a child my dad would take me to the slaughter house when he took our cattle . The old man would bring out an old rifle and 1 22 short cartridge . This would kill a 700-1000 lb. cow stone cold . Never let size fool you . Anything in the hands of an expert could have deadly results.

as far as widespread searching i could say a coon may be the biggest issue which you will assume to kill with a .22lr. the placement I take my livestock and hogs to get processed makes use of a .22 lr pistol to kill the animals. One time i became there and that they have got been on the component to butcher a Brahma bull that were injured in a rodeo the night in the previous. They chased the bull down an open ended chute. the guy on the top of the shoot shot it interior the top. It dropped down on its front knees, have been given up and lunged at him. He shot it lower back and an identical issue happened. With the third shot, it stayed down. you're able to be able to desire to kill a deer or moose with a .22lr besides the undeniable fact that it could must be close and the capturing precise. you need to alter your underclothes after capturing a moose with a .22 lr.

yes it will kill a person, any gun will kill a pesron. It will kill littler varmints like coons, squirrels, and whatnot. It wont really kill a coyote cleanly. It will NOT take big game such as deer or elk ot whatever you are thinking of. I dont even like shooting foxes with mine.

A .22 Long Rifle will kill all three. It is most effective on varmint, then on people and finally on big game.
