Terrible? It sounds good to me. You had a quiet afternoon fishing. Sure, catching fish would have been even better, but just fishing is good. NEVER terrible. And heck, you didn't have to clean fish. I've been skunked many times, doing everything right, and have caught fish when no rational person would expect to, and where no fish would ever be. That's fishing.

What? You weren't watching the shorebirds, or any turtles that might have been in the lake? You didn't like the warm weather? Oh, poor baby, the fish weren't biting. If the only reason some of us fished was to actually catch fish, we would have quit long ago. When the fish aren't biting, you plunk that bait out as far as you can, prop up the pole find a comfortable spot on the bank and enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. Gah, fish not biting so it's a horrible day of fishing.... what's the world coming to.... next thing you know, people will be getting paid to... oh wait... they are....
What's the world coming to?

Barometric pressure will affect the bite. Do you have a front about to pass through or has one recently passed through you area? That will make the bite turn off.
Also, moon phases will change the feeding habits too. At a full moon, fish will feed more actively at night and less during the daytime hours. When I go out snapper fishing in the Gulf, its always terrible around a full moon!

It happens. Sometimes they're biting other times they aren't. It could have been too nice a day. the pressure could've been high. No wind can cause the fish to spook easily. And the prime times to fish are sunrise and sunset. It's tough to catch fish in the middle of the day no matter who or where you are.

the problem was the fish weren't biting. No big deal it happens. When you said it seems like you have a good day and then a bad day...well, that's how fishing is. Keep out there and you'll catch some.

the wind effects alot of that the wind blows baitfish in towards the bank or what ever way it is blowing and the fish always follow the bait fish try early morning or late evening and i have noticed the saying if the wind blowing from the east fish bite the least wind from west fish bite the best

I agree with sweetwater,
I had a skunk day of fishing yesterday, I beleive the moon had a lot to do with it , plus the fact it was a bright sunny day ,
I have found fishing is often better in a light wind .

I know this sounds crazy but ever heard of "freshwater chum"? You can use heavily scented breadcrumbs to bring them into the shallows sprinkle a few handfuls a few minutes apart....if all you want to catch is sunnies(bluegill) they respond well to this. Keep some in your tackle box in a sandwich baggie.

Watch the birds and see if they are feeding or not crows ,whiskey jacks etc. if they are not feeding you wont catch fish that day .Was the wind supposed to be from the East that day or them 4 hours even though you said calm.
