How can we fit three days and three nights between a Friday afternoon crucifixion and an Easter Sunday sunrise?
The fact is, we can't.
So what is the truth about when Jesus was crucified and resurrected?
Do you know ???????

Love & Blessings

Your right! You Can't!

The testimony of an angel, spoken to the women who came early Sunday morning to embalm the body. "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay" (Matthew 28:6). Jesus had promised that He would be exactly three days and three nights in the tomb and He rose just exactly as He said He would.

But," many will respond, "doesn’t the Bible say that Jesus was crucified and buried on Friday and that the tomb was empty on Sunday morning?" It is true that the tomb was already empty on Sunday morning, but the Bible nowhere speaks of a Friday crucifixion. It does say that He was crucified on the "preparation day" (Mark 15:42–45), but we must recognize which preparation day this was. Remember, the Bible speaks of annual Sabbaths—"Holy Days"—in addition to the weekly Sabbath (cf., Leviticus 23:4, 7, 24, 27–32). Jesus was crucified on the preparation day before an annual Sabbath, during the daylight portion of the Passover—Abib 14 on the Hebrew calendar. The following day—Abib 15—is an annual Holy Day, the first Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread

Passover fell on a Wednesday in 31ad, the year of Jesus’ crucifixion. Thursday was an annual Sabbath, the first Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Jesus was buried just before sunset on Wednesday afternoon, and was in the tomb Wednesday night, Thursday, Thursday night, Friday, Friday night, and Saturday—three days and three nights, just as He promised. He was resurrected just before sunset on Saturday afternoon, exactly 72 hours after His burial. On Sunday morning, when the women came at dawn to embalm His body, He was already gone. They did not see the resurrection; they saw an empty tomb, and were told by an angel that He had risen just as He said He would.

1. a Jewish day began and ended at sundown
2. a sabbath is not necessarily restricted to a Saturday
3. three days won't cut it. three days and three nights even
as Jona was in the belly of the great fish.
Those are the FACTS as presented by history (1&2) and your bible (3).

three days and three nights in the heart of the earth can be made to work with this information. No. I don't give anything away. You want it, there it is. Work for it

the bible does not specifically state which day of the week Jesus was crucified. the two most widely held views are friday and wednesday. those who argue for a friday crucifixion say that there is still a way in which he could have been considered in the grave for three days. in the jewish mind of the first century, a part of day was considered as a full day. since Jesus was in the grave for part of friday, all of saturday, and part of sunday—he could be considered to have been in the grave for three days.

in the grand scheme of things, it's not that important to know what day of the week Christ was crucified. if it were very important, then God's word would have clearly communicated the day. what is important is that he did die, and that he physically, bodily rose from the dead. what is equally important is the reason he died—to take the punishment that all sinners deserve

The Bible says that Jesus was dead and in the ground for three days but what you should know is in the Jewish mind at the time a part of something represented the whole. So it wasn't a literal 72 hour period, He was part of Friday, so all of Friday and was risen on Sunday.

Jesus said on the third day He would resurrect. His death began the night of Holy Thursday, when they had the Last Supper

Jesus died on a Friday and was laid in the tomb relativley quickly after he died - Day 1;

He was in the tomb all day Saturday = Day 2

Sunset on Saturday began Sunday; he rose early in the a.m. on sunday = Day 3.

Scripture does not say that Jesus rose 3 days LATER...it says "ON the third day". Big difference.

Easy - the guy who was writing had obviously gone out on the Friday night and got so outrageously drunk and high that he skipped a day.
