That kind of age difference becomes completely insignificant by your late 20's/early 30's. The only problem is that it's not really safe for the 20 year old.

There is a HUGE difference between 16 and 20... The actual time difference (3+ years) has nothing to do with it, it is the maturity and emotional development that happens between 16 and 20. Technically (here in the US anyway) it is illegal for a 20 year old man to date a 16 year old girl for very specific reasons.

Depends, did he lure you to the car with candy :P All joking aside it really depends on the maturity age. If you are a mature 16 year old and/or he is immature for 20 then yeah.

Besides 16 is legal over here in australia (for sex anyway) so lawfully there is nothing wrong. The only thing left is society and I think they will get over it.

The major thing in cradle snatching relationships is the inablility for the younger party to make an informed decicion when they have no information about life and love + relationships.

With him at 20 he is likely going to know how to play the game and if this is your first love (so to speak) then you need to concider this.

I've been in a relationship before where there was an age difference of 5 years, where I was the older of the two people, and while we didn't see a problem with our relationship, many others did, including some of our own family members. Also, the public in general is less likely to accept large gaps in age between two people in a relationship. You may have trouble getting anyone to take you or your relationship seriously. Many people will say that any issues you have are due to immaturity, and if you are the older person, you will be judged as taking advantage of the younger person...consider your position carefully...also, check state laws for your area, they vary from place to place.

It doesnt matter ifs only 3 years apart, 16 is under age and an adult dating an under age person is not only wrong, its illegal. Anybody can report him and he will go to jail and maybe put on a list as a sex offender. He will have to live with that the rest of his life so everywhere he goes that will haunt him.

I don't think it is bad after all age is noting but a number. It is not necessarily illegal most states have 16 as the age of consent. Besides if all you do is date then it is not illegal no matter what state you like in

It is not so much it is wrong, but he is an adult and you are not. When you are 18, then it is OK, to date anybody you want, but just always remember you are underage, and he is considered an adult. If you have sex, then he could go to jail, because you are a minor. I think it is better to date someone, your own age until you become a legal adult. It will save you a lot of grief later on.

I'm 16 and my boyfriend is 20...yeah sure there are laws...but if you're careful and responsible and your parents like him and his parents like you, I don't see a problem with it.
