If I put my obedience-trained German shepherd on a down-stay, point at the steak, and tell her "Leave it!" I can just about guarantee that the steak will still be there when I get back. I've done similar tests with cheese, which she adores, and the cheese stays right where I put it until I give her the go-ahead. She doesn't obey me because I'm sadistic and beat her. . .she obeys me because that's her nature.
That's the difference between a well-trained dog and most human beings. My dog may not understand my commands, but she trusts my judgment and defers to me. Most people don't trust God even when they do understand what He's commanded them to do. Adam and Eve knew exactly what God told them. . .they chose to follow their own path, and it led to destruction.
And trust Him -- pfft, forget that. Why, He might actually expect something out of them like a little obedience or respect for all that He's given them! I mean, look at Adam and Eve again. . .a beautiful, perfect home, all the food they could eat with no work, the friendship of God. Why should they trust Someone Who loved them that much, after all?
In this case, my dog is a darned sight smarter than a lot of rebellious, stubborn, disobedient people in this world.

you should have told the dog not to eat it. Thats what God did in Genisis, he also told Adam and Eve that if they did they would die. But they fell for the Devils lie" If you eat this fruit you will be just like God" Lots of cults and false religions still make that promise. I guess people haven't learned yet that God tells the truth and the Devil Lies!
The fruit was " the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil" Knowledge in Genesis means " to become one flesh with" as in " Adam knew Eve and they had a baby" Since then man has had to pay the penalty for his ancestors becoming one flesh with Evil.

Look at it as though you take a person who is hungry to an ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET and you sit that person down and tell them you have to go somewhere for about and hour and not to eat anything until you get back.
That was not fair at all.
Just my opinion.
