Not that I advocate this, but the obvious answer would be banning religion.

In the context of religion & spirituality, we have not changed at all. Maybe mixed things together, but the origans of all ideas can still be traced.

Teach critical thinking skills in school.
Actually fix the education system instead of coming up with nifty slogans (no child left behind) and gutting tests so it will appear the slogan is working.

This sounds mean, but our medical system is inhibiting the natural selection of humans from happening. We give free medical care to the poor and charge double to the rich. Religion is actually helping the propagation of the inferior. Again, it is not something I readily believe in, but my progeny will need to tackle this problem. Soon enough, as the Earth becomes more overpopulated, my words will become true. It sounds horrible I know, but we have to be responsible enough to accept the truth.

Get rid of the blocks in minds of too many that keep them from thinking logically and for themselves. There's far too many people that keep their minds full of old stale thoughts of others, usually due to religious beliefs. We need to unstop those so they can move on and our collective conscious can evolve on up.
