We would be stuck in the Dark Ages if people hadn't looked beyond the BS the Church fed them.

Many of Europe's early scientists were monks, and the university system came out of the religious colleges. People did not investigate science to challenge or disprove religion or religious doctrine. Many did it as a way of better understanding God through understanding his creation. The fact of the matter is that occasionally, they found things which went against the dogma. The only reason this has really been a problem is because of politics. As now, in the past science and religion came into conflict not because they are naturally conflictual, but because politics makes them so.

Christia rightly said, what does evolution has to do with the discovery of medicine?

Evolution is not a science. Evolution defies mathematical probability. Evolution defies Physics (Second law of thermodynamics).

Evolution claims, random change & natural selection make simple things spontaneously transform into more complex things without recourse to intelligent design. Chance and random changes simply do not produce higher levels of organization & complexity.

How ridiculously impossible it is MATHEMATICALLY, for 'order' - of the magnitude of the human brain and DNA - to come from absolute disorder? How could TIME alone account for the order in the universe, natural laws, complex organisms, etc.?

Yes, all the "doubters" in this world have done a great service for everyone... I love science. Without those who doubt and question, and find scientific answers, I would not have anywhere near as much evidence for the existence of God, nor as much of an in-dept concept of who and what He is, and how He does all his marvelous works!

P.S. Somehow God always makes things work out for the benefit of those who love Him.

I am a little confused about just what it is you are asking, but I think that the driving curiousity that has prompted scientific investigation and discovery is very much a part of God's loving plan for His children...much like human parents deeply desire for our children to know and be more than we have done and been. Not that any of us can approach the comprehensive love and intelligence of God, just that the drive is from Him.

Oh don't worry. Even if the world does go to pot and religion takes over, there will always be pioneering visionaries who will use their brains anyway. There WAS a time when the vast majority of people followed a faith and it didn't stop progress from happening, even against the religion's best efforts which were considerable.

it's great that they searched for penicillin and cures for diseases, but they are not always right.
in the 1800 to early 1900 they thought heroin was a cure to get people off opium, and cocaine was a wonder drug, they put it into wine to pep you up.
alot of great things come from science and then there are a lot of flops..

Thinking that God is the answer and abandoning science is just as foolish as thinking that science is all we need and abandoning God.

It's not either or, it's both and. As a Catholic I strongly believe that God has given us science as a terrific gift.

Jedi, it was actually the Church that brought us out of the Dark Ages bc they preserved learning.

In fact, God ordained science. He commanded us to subdue creation, which implies a study of its processes so that we can learn to control them for our benefit.
