Atheism is a cop out. It's easier not to believe.

Well, you have to look at it on a grand scale. There were a myriad of religions, with certain regions accepting one religion or its variants. There still are, but several religions, like Christianity or Islam, have gained many followers. I would guess that Atheism and Agnosticism may surpass them, if you take into account that religion was created to explain the unknown and science is, in a way, rendering it obsolete. However, there also may be a new religion that arises that takes the world by storm, or an Orwellian kind of religion that is forced on an Orwellian world. Who knows, maybe Scientology'll be the Fourth Reich's official religion.

More and more people are turning their backs on ORGANIZED religion. There is a difference. And there is a good reason. I think the Catholic Church as well as many Protestant groups have exploited and lied to believers long enough. So many are involved in hating other groups, it makes you wonder if they ever read the New Testament (divorcees, those who use birth control, gays; basically anybody who doesn't fit their narrow world view).
My friend abandoned the Lutheran Church after a lifetime because she was disgusted that they were bringing in Aids patients from Africa and foisting their medical bills on taxpayers. I guess it was her last straw. I left the Catholic Church in the 1980s; the straw that broke was the church supporting sex abusers, lying to the parents of abuse victims and sending these criminals into other parishes without warning so that they could abuse more children. Why it didn't make national papers then still amazes me.
It should be clear from the breakup of the Soviet Union that people will continue their religious convictions despite everything, including forced atheism.

you're talking of Rationality. certainty is something else. You and a shaman do no longer share the comparable certainty. A shaman is centred on the religious international extra advantageous than you're. Shamans do no longer believe in God. Animism bargains spirits (there is not any such factor as "thought"). those spirits turn ultimately into Gods, Gods into one God and, with regard to the tip of religion defined as such, into God-i'm. This all happens basically like a baby grows into adulthood. The maturing of a baby's relationship with people who lead its way, is what we call "faith" on a diverse point of that comparable thought. that's what God is all approximately. God finally ends up as an emblem of what it has represented throughtout historic previous. you have ripped away the religious international out of your legacy. Your certainty is technology. Your questions have become binary. This international is growing to be to be a international of persons worshiping the fabric international. Rationality is our course in direction of bigger self information, yet being persons we've an prolonged course to conceal to realize an entire circle. as a manner to fulfill ourselves, we would desire to embody the whole legacy of our existence, no longer basically the digits of our id extensive kind. Atheism isn't the alternative answer to maturing. there's a deep rationalization why the baby has to settle for time to play, in the past it incredibly is caught with an accounting extensive kind. i'm hoping that when faith fades traditionally, atheism fades alongside with it and we receive a synthesis of why all that has occurred, perchance basically like Hegel has seen it. Atheism may well be your destiny, yet no longer mine.

I don't think atheism will catch on, since we will never know everything there is to know about our universe, and religion will always be needed to fill the gap. (Humans are a curious bunch, and hate it when a question is left unanswered.)
However I do think religious beliefs will change, as we learn more about the universe. I think the primary religions now will evolve or die outright.

religion is not adjusting to new times...and i think for most of the religions it is too late to adjust now.
They dont offer alternative and options to real problems nowadays...How can catholic church tell young people that in order to prevent diseases and not wanted pregnancy they just have to avoid sex??? they should be a bit more realistic and realize that if people feel that religion is just imposing an old fashioned system people will turn their backs to it...they should have been a bit more realistic and clever

Remember this: In the last days there will be many troubles...because people will love themselves, love money, brag, and be proud. They will say evil things against others and will not obey their parents or be thankful or be the kind of people God wants....They will not love others, will refuse to forgive, will gossip, will not control themselves, they will be cruel, will HATE WHAT IS GOOD, will turn against their friends, and will do foolish things without thinking. They will be conceited, will love pleasure instead of God, and will act as tho they serve God but will not have his power...so I don't think it will be just athiests that are to come....

Of course it's possible, but like I have always asked, "Name some great atheistic leaders of the past or present?" I wasn't a bit surprised by the answers.

I'm athiest, and I don't care if people think I'm godless. I mean, it doesn't mean we all don't have any morals. I think thiests should come together and seperate between the "I don't care", the "I just can't see how science can prove that", and the "I just want to live my life" groups.
