it is not from walking or running and it is not heart burn, or gas related. it may have to do with dehydration but i dont think it does.

this could be Pressure from your large intestine if you have been constipated or have had diarrhea. I recommend you drink a minimum of a eight glasses of water a day. Water is the most important element the body needs.

Start using a powdered fiber supplement first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Do this consistently every day. Also start eating high fiber foods. Fresh fruit, whole grain cereals, brown rice and fresh vegetables.

If you don't feel better after a few weeks Consult your medical doctor.

I had a pain similar to that for years and went to the e.r plenty of times and was always told that it was a muscle spasm because theres really nothing else on your left side. Finally one night I got the pain again but it was in my back a little too so the dr's finally decided to check out my kidneys. It turned out that I had an accesory artory running over my kidney which would sort of block it. So after a while the fluids in my kidneys would build up but the left one wouldnt be able to get rid of it quick enough and the pressure from the accesory artory was causing the pain. I had an IVP study and they saw that my left kidney was bigger than my right and they decided to do surgery to fix it. I had a left pyeloplasty a year ago and have been fine ever since. This could be your problem as well. Good Luck to you.

Is it when your running or when you've been walking a while?

I get pains in both my sides if I run to much or walk alot.

My mom (and grandma) just told me to drink water and stretch before I do anything physical and that seemed to help.

2 suggestions...one is heartburn...another is gas....the bowels are also located in that area.
IF your dehydrated then there isn't enough water in your system...therefore causing gas related symptoms...the bowels need water to work properly.
