Hi, tommorow I'm going to be having a gum graph. They will be taking a piece of gums from the roof of my mouth and putting it over a part of my lower tooth. Does anyone know what the pain will be like? Will the novacaine needle hurt?

I had this procedure done a few years ago. I was terrified about the entire procedure and really it was not the bad. I had a tiny bit of pain from the Novocaine shots, and then nothing. I had no pain after the surgery, just some discomfort from the dressing. Really, it is not as bad as you might think. Just somewhat uncomfortable. Good luck with your graft!!

I've had the exact same thing done. The pain is on and off- make sure that they give you a prescription for pain medication if needed. I didn't really feel the needle. First they put an numbing gel on a q-tip and apply that before the needle. Good luck- it isn't as bad as it seems!

YOU WILL BE NUMB BECAUSE OF THE ANESTHETIC AND WON'T FEEL ANY DISCOMFORT DURING THE PROCEDURE.
AFTER THE GRAPH IS IN PLACE AND FOR SEVERAL DAYS AFTERWARD YOU MAY FEEL SOME SENSITIVITY. COMPARED TO THE OVERALL PROCEDURE,THE PAIN OF THE NEEDLE IS MINUSCULE. YOU'LL BE JUST FINE.
