I eat breakfast lunch and dinner plus 3 snacks a day, it fills me up no problems but I am worried that this could hurt me. I eat oatmeal for breakfast with peaches, then have a snack of rice cakes (2) in between that and lunch. For lunch I eat 2 tuna wraps with one of those 100 calorie snack packs. Then for dinner I have 2 turkey breast whole wheat sandwiches with a lil bit of mayo (not diet). Plus a 100 calorie snack pack of chips plus another snack pack of either oreos or chips ahoy. I drink water and crystal light tea through out the day, and if by chance I do get hungry I eat two more rice cakes. I mean I am eating and eating to the point of being full. But is this healthy? My calorie intake goes between 950-1050 a day. I actually feel better than I have in a long time. I can't afford to buy all those diet things. I only have to spend $35 a week for all my meals together and still have some left over. I have to buy for my kids so I can't afford more than that for myself.

I can't afford to buy all sorts of fruit and veggies and i'm allergic to most citrus fruits. I could only afford frozen veggies. I only get child support. I live in a low income housing and everything I can't afford to take more money than what I already have away from my kids. And its not junk food I'm eating its all healthy and I re figured everything and I'm right its 950-1050 cals a day. I don't drink alot of crystal light because I can't afford it. I mostly drink lots of plain water.

where are your fruit and veggies????
people in coma get about that much calories!
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

You should be eating about 2000 calories per day to keep your body running properly. Apart from the peaches there are no fruit and veg in your diet. We should eat 5 portions of fruit and veg per day.
You would probably be best to introduce some of the foods you used to eat back into your diet because chances are you won't be able to stick to this plan indefinitely and if you start eating ALL your old food again you will gain more weight than what you have lost. I know this isn't really what you want to hear but it is a fact. So treat yourself to something nice instead of rice cakes every now and then.

Yes, you should eat 5-6 times a day (3 meals and 2-3 snacks).

Check your calories again, that sounds like WAY more than 1050.

Also, where are your fruits and vegetables? Can you replace the snack packs with different fresh fruits? Also, instead of peaches all the time, try blueberries, cherries, strawberries, etc.

By varying your fruits, you get more vitamins and minerals throughout the week.

It would depend on how active you are during the day. You are definatelty eating healthy however your caloric intake is low. I would watch out for the Crystal Light...the sacchrine in it is not good for the liver over a long period of time. Plain water with maybe 2 drinks of Crystal Lilght would be better.

Don't forget that sugar content and sodium content count as well. A lot of times people count calories but they forget that 1100mg of sodium(salt) is way to much (sorry, I'm Canadian and don't know how to convert to US weights...). same as having more than 3g of sugar per meal/snack

The best way to figure out what you should be eating is a diabetic cookbook. Diabetics have to take everything into consideration and their control their diabeties thru diet which also helps them control their weight.

When I am not active, I aim for 1000-1200 calories a day...but I'm trying to lose wieght. On the days that I work out I go for 1500-1800 calories.

Good luck!

i think especially if you're an athlete or doing sports, you should be eating way more than that. I'm a swimmer myself and I don't really count calories but i'm sure it's more than 1500 daily so i would say you should eat at least more than 1200 per day, and make sure you don't get that 1200 from chocolate and sweets but from a healthy balanced diet.

It doesn't sound like you are getting enough nutrients to me. Add up how many of each vitamin and other nutrients you consume a day to make sure you are getting a healthy amount. You also might want to increase your daily cals by 200-300 to keep your metabolism going fast.
