Yes you can but add some butter to give it the creamy taste
In a pinch even if you are going to serve the yogurt "sour cream" substitute by it's self like for a dip you can add some butter to yogurt and no one will know just make sure that it is plain unsweetened yogurt

RE:
Can I successfully substitute nonfat yogurt for sour cream in a cake recipe?
I'm not trying to save fat or calories, I just don't have sour cream and don't want to go to the store.

I'd stick with the yogurt! And, I often substitute yogurt for sour cream in recipes. They have the same consistency. If you use buttermilk, which is liquid, then you have to deal with how much overall liquid you are using in your recipe.

It's actually quite tasty. I prefer using yoghurt in recipes. It works just fine.
If you love the taste the buttermilk adds, but it's too liquid, set some buttermilk in a paper coffee filter in a strainer or small colander, put it in the fridge, and let the whole thing drip for a few hours. That lets some of the liquid drain off.

Yes, you can. Use the same amount. I've come across many recipes that call for sour cream or plain yogurt. I wouldn't use the buttermilk, it would make your recipe too wet.

Yes, I have done it many times. You can always take a cup of milk and add a tablespoon of vinegar also to sour the milk. The sour part is necessary for the baking soda to work for the leavening
