She needs to get professional help. I know that you have good intentions, and would love to solve all her problems, but this one goes much, much deeper than you can fix on your own.
Firstly, she should end up in a hospital to fix the wounds and be evaluated. They will probably hold her for at least 24 hours for psychiactric evaluation. No she won't like it, but it would be the best thing for her. After that, she'll end up on counseling for a while, and possibly some medications to help her through this.
Typically, this is not just an emotional issue. This is an organic chemical imbalance in the brain.
Now, what can you do? You can get her to the help she needs. Let her know that you are there for her (by the way, this is going to be a tough road). Be supportive. You may even go to counseling with her to find out what needs to be done and how you can help.
If she cannot get the professional help she needs, she will probably end up committing suicide in the near future. This was a big warning sign that says "I NEED HELP NOW". Ignoring it will place her in peril. Do not ever consider self mutilation or a suicid threat lightly. Unfortunately, hugs and kisses won't cure this one.

do everything you can to be gentle and show love to her _ take this seriously and pray a lot
a lot of times if someone decides they want to die something happens and they do
if you can get her to go to a doctor that may help often depression is biochemical or physical in nature
be patient be kind try to listen and understand even if you can"t understand
try to do some reading but more importantly
make sure she is eating and sleeping as any malnutrition or sleep deprivation can cause things to get worse sometimes it is as simple as not geting a nutrient or two try that before calling a doctor because the doctor will prescribe drugs but if you have to call a doctor do it _ don"t waste time
if it happened once it will happen again next time you might not be so lucky

Depressions isnt easy let her have her space for a while. Then talk to her let her know your there and she can trust you. When it feels like the world is against her there is always one person who is willing to help her along the way...remind her about that.It may take a while for her to open up again but be patient.

Get some help for her. She needs a lot of your support, and TLC. Its hard when someone you care for is going through this. Make her feel important and that every problem has its answer. Get help soon.
