Always ask a Catholic about the Catholic Church. You don't consult your car mechanic before having heart surgery, do you?

not catholic anymore but , premarital sex is a sin against your own soul. For those who like proof let me share these statistics. Teen and young women who have sex are more depressed and suicidal than those who don't. People in faithful christian marriages are far more likely to respond to being "very happy" or extremely satisfied in their sexual relationship" than unbelievers. When people involve sex in a non committed marriage they tear at the very fabric of their souls. There is a bonding that occurs at a soul level when you have sex with someone. To save it for marriage creates a bond between a husband and wife that has not been shared with any one else.

Hi tang. Being a Catholic has nothing to do with premartial sex being sinful. It is a sin against God. God tells us we are to abstain from premarital sex. He warns us very clearly in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 that we are not to have premarital sex:
“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: 4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;”
God tells us we are to have sex only in marriage in Hebrews 13:4:
“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
God tells us more in Matthew 5:28:
“but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
The marriage institution is under attack from the whole world, and having sex out of wedlock is the main reason. This is one of the main reasons for the high rate of divorce, everywhere we look we see sex being used to sell something or make us feel good. And sex does make us feel good but it should only be used after marriage. This is one reason people should take time to know each other before getting married.

Can they? certain. Is it a sin? certain. Marriage is a Sacrament and the sacrament although which a real lasting bond is created between a guy and a woman. You sound like you're youthful and want to study so a lot more advantageous about the Catholic faith with your now human being techniques. do not in simple terms flow to Mass and under no circumstances study any more advantageous. maximum of what you be conscious of is from grade college. artwork on your human being faith, do somewhat studying of the Catechism and the Bible. sturdy success and God Bless you

This isnt just something Catholics preach.
The entire Christian, Jewish, Islamic and a whole bunch of other faiths that believe this is so.
The reason I believe is because marriage is an institution that was invented by God, so there are certain privileges to it.
It basically brings a social order into an otherwise chaotic natured human being.
The whole purpose of religion is to find enlightenment and higher purpose in life, one cannot do that unless one disciplines the animal inside by regulating: food, sex and sleep.---even buddhist monks know that.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years that it is God's will that:
+ Single people should be celibate.
+ Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
The purpose of sex is to bring a husband and wife closer and to create human life.
Fornication, sex between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman, is contrary to their human dignity and the dignity of human sexuality.
With love in Christ.

2335 Each of the two sexes is an image of the power and tenderness of God, with equal dignity though in a different way. The union of man and woman in marriage is a way of imitating in the flesh the Creator's generosity and fecundity: "Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh." All human generations proceed from this union.
2336 Jesus came to restore creation to the purity of its origins. In the Sermon on the Mount, he interprets God's plan strictly: "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." What God has joined together, let not man put asunder.
2353 Fornication is carnal union between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman. It is gravely contrary to the dignity of persons and of human sexuality which is naturally ordered to the good of spouses and the generation and education of children. Moreover, it is a grave scandal when there is corruption of the young.

It is a lot of reasons for abstention from sex before marriage: venereal illnesses, concentration of physical and spiritual forces for the favourite person and the future children, the first sex not only physical action, but also spiritual, that is reflected in mentality for all life, you leave a part of soul there in the past.

It is considered fornication, and it is not permitted until after marriage because it is the act that consummates your marriage. So if you sleep with anyone before hand it is like entering into a union with them, and by doing so you would be married in a sense, so then that would make you an adulterer in the eyes of the church. There is more to it then that, but that's the short summary.
