I was born and baptized a catholic but at the age of 6 my family became lutheran. I was confirmed a lutheran but i now want to go back to being catholic.

Will the catholic religion recognize me as being confirmed or will i have to go through the long process again?

Welcome home.

Unfortunately I don't think the Catholic Church will recognize your confirmation.

But this is actually a good thing. You have the opportunity to go through a beautiful process called the Rite of Initiation of Adults.

At the climax of this process, you will declare your belief in the Church, be confirmed, and receive the Eucharist (Holy Communion).

If you are interested in joining or just learning more about the Catholic Church, contact your local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group.

You can go and ask any questions you want.

This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.

There is no obligation to become a Catholic.

With love and prayers in Christ.

Welcome home. Talk to your local Priest about this. You will need to go through an adult program because Lutheran conformation is not recognized for membership in the Catholic Church. God bless you on your journey.

Pastor Billy says: this is so awesome welcome home.
To answer your question you've already received it from another poster see a local parish and talk with the priest. Your baptism should be considered valid by the Church and after meeting with the priest you'll better understand what is required of you.

For darth, Britney will be joining a non-denominational church as Catholicism is truly the only one.

You are still a member of the Catholic church inspite of being confirmed into Lutherism, your local Parish Priest will confirm this for you,so go along and have a chat about it.
And welcome back Sister.

First, I'd like to say welcome home! God bless you!

Baptism and Confirmation are two different sacraments. You received one when you were born, but normally confirmation doesn't happen until you're older, usually in your teens. Sounds like you need to be confirmed.

Talk with a priest. He'll give you the right steps. Trust me, confirmation is worth the effort. I wasn't confirmed until I was 30 and it had literally changed my life.

Again, God bless you, and welcome home.
