On crappy radios how does touching the Ariel improve the signal?

Question

You know those cheap radios? Well, when you get bad signal, and then touch the Ariel it improves the sound quality.. but how?

I've always wondered so if you know then please post.

When you touch it, your whole body (which is a conductor) acts as an antenna

your body ats like a conductor, so its like adding a longer Ariel to the radio, making it more sensitive!
