What? Now I'm practically quoting Jesus.

John 9:41 Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

Apply this to those who claim they can see. I know it was about the Pharisees who were talking. Man, are you guys that poor at applications of concepts?

Christians,
God leads people by His Spirit. That's why they don't understand.
John 6:44
"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

I'm not judging. I pray for those God is leading. Those that aren't being led are what Jesus referred to as 'dead'.

As in: "let the dead bury the dead."

An Atheist usually uses his head and not his heart, his reason and not his emotion to judge the World as he sees it. And reason tells him that Jesus, as God, as a person who can change lives ,does not exist. Think for a moment . When we die, if we`re good , with clean souls, we go to heaven. What do we do there ???. According to the Bible, we adore and praise God for ever and ever !. Now, think how utterly boring such an existence would be to an even half intelligent person !. How much more boring would it be to a person of Gods exalted intelligence ?. According to the Bible, Jesus said in answer to the question " how many times must we forgive Lord, 7 times ?, NO ! 7 times 7, in other words you should ALWAYS forgive, there is NO end to forgiveness !.But, again, according to the Bible, if we die with a Mortal sin on our souls, we go straight to Hell from whence there is no return. This is a glaring contradiction !. In other words, Jesus is commanding mere, frail mortals to do something, ie. forgive, which he as a Omnipotent God can`t or won`t do !. An atheist sees no reason in this, just nonsense !. As for your statement that Jesus is the " Way to truth ", well, truth is a very fickle animal !. At the last count there were at least 1100 mainstream religions in existence on the Earth, each of which has their own version of the " Truth " and their own path to attaining it . What " things " of God do you refer to ?. The destruction of Sodam and Gomarra, where, by mathimatical probibility and the law of averages alone, SOME of the inhabitants must have been innocent !. Or perhaps the slaughter of , again, innocent children, the first born of every house in Egypt to " persaude "Pharoh to let his people go ?. Or again, in the old testement, where the Lord God commands his people to go in and slaughter the inhabitants of another land just so the Jews could possess it for themselves ?. Were you to look at the Bible with neutral eyes, I think that you`d see, as does the atheist, a personage who can`t seem to make up his mind as to weather he`s " meek and mild " or a bloodthirsty savage !.

Here's a question. Who are you tell Atheists they are blind? How do you know that you're not the one being fooled?

Oh, wait...I think I know the answer. It's because you have faith and your book says so. And that's cool, if it works for you, but it's not for everyone. Why should everyone have to believe in the same thing?

Would you like it now if everyone believed that Zeus is real? Or if everyone HAD to read the Koran? You probably wouldn't. And if that really happened, and you still believed in God, you'd probably get asked, "Why are Christians so blind to the powers of Zeus?" or some question like that. But that's exactly what you're doing now.

It can't proven that there is a God, and it can't really be proven that in some way there isn't.
But to each his own. I don't think Christians should criticize Atheists, and vice versa.

Because I have absolutely no legitimate reason whatsoever to believe that Jesus is the way to truth. That's YOUR beliefs. And I respect that that's your beliefs, and I wish you happiness in your beliefs, but they're not everyone's beliefs. If you can show me ONE single bit of real proof that your claim is anything but a myth, then I'll listen to you. Bible quotes do not count, because the Bible is self-serving. (Believe that this book is true or you're going to "perish". How do you know the book is true? The book says so!) Quoting Jesus doesn't count, either, because David Koresh, Charles Manson, and Jim Jones all claimed to be the way to the truth, too. He wanted people to follow him, so of course he said stuff like that.
I'm not blind, I see VERY clearly, thank you very much.

I think you are a bit bigot....
Jesus came among us to say that there is the world around us and we must respect it.
You seems don't see this....you don't now that atheists are the Jesus other world?
I think you must another time your John 9:41....
I think that it is also for you.....
Atheists aren't blind...they are only afraid to meet something that it is not known....

You can't use the Bible's statement of itself to validate it.

It's like saying, "I am green, because I say I am green, and you are foolish to believe otherwise and in denial of my greenness!"

In return, why are Christians so blindly hopeful of a God? Is it because you suffer so here on earth, the ideas of reality beyond the grave are too insufferable to even consider? Is it fear of living your life happily and as you please, with consequences of being thrown into a fiery pit by Someone who claims to love and accept you?

Really, what backing do you have for your beliefs? Aside from a book which you have no proof of its authenticity.

Not blind. Just realistic (but you know that, don't you?)

Why are Xians so blind to the things of Ra, Odin, Zeus, Jupiter, Zoroaster, Cai Shen, Quetzalcoatl, Assase Ya, and the FSM?

Jesus was not talking to atheists in that passage.

[edit] I am not poor at applying Scripture. I was a biblical studies major as an undergrad and I took my share of hermeneutics. And I am not sure who "you guys" are, but I am a Christian.

For the same reasons that an atheist would label you as blind from the lack of evidence for God, blind to scientific evidence for the creation of life, etc. You're both as bad as each other on that point, I feel.

Keeping it simple, because atheists don't believe at all.
It's like getting in a car to drive, but you aren't going to go anywhere. Why get in the car in the first place? Linking that to your question, why follow what Christianity says if you don't believe in it?
