Can I bring my own bottled water to take with me off the ship? Are there any luggage restrictions I should know about?

Yes the cruise lines do have a scanner to check all luggage, both checked and carry ons.

Yes you can bring your own bottled water, and soft drinks if you want. I regularly take a six-pack of water and soft drinks on in my carry-on bag.; whenever we drive to the port, or have a night in a hotel before boarding so I can get it from a convenience store. They do sell bottled water on ship and usually have it available at the gangway as you get off in port stops. But I do like to have a few bottles for my cabin.

Your luggage restrictions will be dictated mostly by the airline that takes you to the port city, two bags and a carry-on, plus your personal item (handbag). BUT, the storage space in cabins, unless you have a suite, is very limited and luggage is generally stored under the bed. So use soft sided luggage and not more than a couple pieces, plus a carry-on. In addition, when its time to leave the ship they will require you to place your luggage outside your room by about 2:00AM the last night of the cruise so that they can get it ready for unloading. So you will need to keep a small bag to take your toiletries and sleeping clothes off the ship in. So do include a carry-on for that.

No problem with bringing on bottled water if it is packed in your suitcase. You will not be allowed to just carry on a case of bottled water.

Naturally, no weapons, no drugs are allowed.

Your suitcase and carry-on are x-rayed.

Yes, here in USA we are very careful now. Because we have to protect ourselves and other countries too. That is the reason other countries call on us for help.
