My stepsister's husband and his groomsmen showed up FOUR HOURS LATE to the wedding after saying they were having "wardrobe malfunctions." They weren't even IN the tuxedos and they were all wearing shades and did not apologize for being late. I was too dumbfounded to leave the ceremony but I flat out refused to go to the reception.

Okay at MY wedding we sent my husband's brother (the best man) to the back to the church from the reception (about a 10 minute drive) to get the marriage certificate (we forgot it). He got pulled over for going AT LEAST 80 in a 55 on the way back. What's worse is that the cop caught up to him in the parking lot AT THE RECEPTION HALL!!! I was so mad. My mom ended pleading with the cops (yes, another one showed up in the parking lot) to let him off. Luckily my hubby's grandmother knows all the cops inthe area so b/t her and my mom he got a warning. The photographer, by the way, got pictures of all this and they are now in my wedding album. Everyone was looking out the windows while this was happening.

I don't think it is up to a guest to judge a wedding as tacky or not, it may not be to your taste or budget (maybe you have a rich daddy to pay??) as a guest you should just go and be supportive of the couple and not expect to be fed and watered on luxury food and drinks (the soda should have been free though, I do agree on that one) I would NEVER judge a friend or relative, if they choose to have their wedding a certain way then that's their choice. i don't like chocolate fountains because they are unhygienic and messy, but I would not judge anyone else if that's what they wanted.

The first thing that comes to mind is at my nieces wedding the groom's side of the family decided to "kidnap" the bride and hold her for ransom, then came back and said people had not paid enough and had to give more money. To top it off nothing was said to my sister in law/ mother of the bride for her to warn some of the people that were attending.

I went to a wedding a few years ago where they ran out of liquor in less than an hour because the groom's family had started drinking it a couple weeks before the wedding and didn't replace it.

I was in my friend's wedding and the whole thing was just awful. She married in a park and when we arrived, nothing was set up. The guests had to set up the chairs and the arch. The maid of honor looked like she'd just gotten out of bed and didn't bother to get her hair done. The caterer never showed, so one of the bridesmaids and groomsmen left to go to McDonald's and missed the ceremony. None of the groomsmen were in suits. They wore t-shirts and jeans. And the music that the bride walked down the aisle to was coming out of a pick up truck which was backed up next to the ceremony site.

Dead serious here, I had a Bride whose guests were rowdy and loud. Instead of just waiting for them to settle down she turned around and screamed at the top of her lungs, bent over like a speed skater, arms flailing behind her "SHUT THE F**K UP!"
I cant even imaging what the look on my face was like. And she just turns back around and looks at me like OK go ahead.
As you can well imagine the rest of the ceremony was not much better but that was definitely the low point.

My friend had little honor attendants - ring bearer and flower girl. They fought like cat & dog in real life, and parents never gave them any instructions or coaching on etiquette. Parents were too busy arguing and drinking and smoking. So--- day of the wedding, down the aisle, kiddies are last -- party is waiting in the front. Ring bearer gets the jitters and freezes half way down the aisle. Flower girl is at the front, she turns back and yells "GET DOWN HERE YOU LITTLE S#IT!!!"
Ahh another generation of trailer trash in training!

I don't think the bride and groom should pay for people to liquor themselves up. Yes the soda should have been included as well unless punch was offered. I provided non alcoholic punch and if anyone wanted something from the bar they paid for it themselves.
