Overall best weather is the Scilly Isles - higher than average rainfall but the warmest and sunniest part of the UK. Ties with Penzance in Cornwall for warmest place.
In general the south west has the better weather being warmer and sunnier than average. Driest places are in the east, all along the east coast from Aberdeen in the north of Scotland down to Kent in the far southeast of England.
Rough rules of thumb: West is wetter than the east, west is sunnier than the east, south is warmer than the north.

The South in general has the best weather. The hottest ever temperature was recorded in Kent in the South East corner. The rainfall is lowest in the South East too.

I'm an American and I live in Leeds. This time of year-we are having very nice weather. It hasn't been raining much-lots of sunshine and it's been in the 60's. London has fair weather this time of year as well. From my experience with Southern England is extra rain-probably from being so close to the Channel, but I've had lots of rain and wind-similar experiences with the west near Liverpool and Fishguard.

The south west has the gulf stream coming, which keeps the whole of the UK in good weather, but particularly the SW.
