If the draft is reinstated, I am not so certain that they wouldn't include women this time. The military has such different standards now as in their view of women. Women can now maintain combat positions, were as before it was unheard of. Personally, if the draft were to happen and women were included, I'd jump at the chance to serve. The only reason I am not in the military now is the fact that I had a child at a young age, and no recruiter would touch me until I was married and now my husband doesn't want to me enlist!!

I highly doubt a draft would ever happen. It would be political suicide to those trying to push for it. That said, I imagine anyone fit for service -- men or women -- in a certain age bracket would be eligible. I think, too, they would close the education loophole, or tighten it. But as I said, I don;t think a draft would happen. A volunteer military is far and away better.

I doubt if it includes women as the military is still not keen on them being in combat roles.

I hope there is a draft, and all the little rich white boys get drafted first, with no out because they are in college! You serve before you go to college unless in an officers program or committed to serve after you get your MD at our expense!

There wont be a draft and there wont even be talk of a draft if people will have enough respect for their country and their beliefs to step up. If people didn't just piss and moan about things and actually take action. Care enough about your country to want to fight for the thing you love and care about.

Sorry to disappoint you in your rabel rousing, but there won't be a draft. Folks like you would not have the dedication, education, or commitment to effectively contribute to the US Military. We are quite happy with the volunteer system as we all know we are on the same team.

Ret. USAF SNCO- Too young to draft and to old to have had to register- Get my point?

there wont be draft . there wouldn't need to be one if young people would have a sense of duty. thats why the army had to take older soldiers. young people only car about themselves. they tell their kid that they're special.kids dont have no sense of responsibility for their actions and no sense of duty. look at the vt shooting it was everyone elses fault but the guy shooting. he was told he was special also bet. if more people went in the army our society would bennifite greatly.

Draft will never happen except in times of dire need. It would bankrupt the country in a matter of days.

No it will not happen. It's always better to have a volunteer military, because that way the only people who join are those who want to.

If a draft does come many will move to Canada! Canada does not have a military, so you will not have to worry about getting drafted there!
