my daughter is scared to poop all of a sudden because it is gross and icky and she wants nothing to do with it. i have tried everything from asking her to going on the potty to just letting her be and go on her own in her diaper. she holdes everything in, even gas. i don't know where she picked this up from, it is like she has a complex about it. i finally had to get a fleets and use it on her today after watching her walk around in pain for 3 days from not letting herself go. everytime she would get a feeling to go she would stand up and squeese her butt together and scream until the feeling passed. what should i do???

i have been useing cran-apple juice to help keep her stools soft so that is not the problem, it is her holding them in. the dr. said she should grow out of it, not a lot of help!

Oh! That is the saddest thing I have ever heard!

Does she have older siblings? Somehow someone has really shown her that poop is disgusting. A babysitter?
How sad.

I would comfort her as much as possible and encourage her, and really really call your pediatrician or a child therapist. Poor thing.

Tell her the the potty is "hungry" for both pee and poop, and that it really needs her poop so that it can be full.
