Hi, I have just started weaning my son who is almost 6 months old. I would be grateful if you could tell me how you feed your baby when you go out for the day. I don't really want to use ready made food jars so how could I feed him my purees?
For example, do you take them out frozen and let them de-
frost? Many thanks for your help.

i would take them out the night before your going out so they are fully thawed out, if you need to warm them up you can carry a flask of hot water and a small plastic tub to sit the jar in and put in the hot water. my mum and myself used to do this on a daily basis as its the only way you can really know what is in your babys food

It depends on how long its going to be before I need it. If I'm leaving the house in the morning and won't be using the food for a few hours I pull some out of the freezer, if I'll need it in about an hour I defrost it at home before I leave. I found some containers on eBay that are for individual servings of baby food that can be thrown away after a feeding that I put my purees in when I make them (also cool because they don't have to be kept flat during freezing since my freezer is so full).

With my nephew, she took the frozen puree cubes and put them in an empty baby food jar or a small bowl with a lid. There's no reason why you should have to use the ready made ones when you have already made your own.

There are several "fast dissolving" products on the market. We give our daughter dried fruit in that form, and cheerio-like bites when we're out and about. She still nurses, however, at her regular times. My wife nurses her while we walk through the mall or whenever our daughter just wants the "ne-ne." We visited a church for the first time this morning. It was a small group, and we wondered if anyone would care if our daughter nursed during the service. My wife, without a second thought, gave our daughter her breast and carried on as usual. No one could have cared less.

My son was still taking formula at 6 months old but when he wasnt on the bottle I would maybe go out and get mashed potatoes because that is something soft that he could eat.
