Some of the answers are pretty right. We separate from the world in the spiritual sense. We do not believe in drinking alcohol, smoking or other doing drugs. We also believe in keeping the family and sacred, so we try to watch positive and clean media. We do not believe necessarily that we have to live in communities all to ourselves, so we do not separate in this way. It is more of a moral separation. I hope this helps.

Mormons do not Confess Jesus as GOD! To do this, Sad to say,,,, YOU have NO Savior. Jehovah Witness Deny Him Also. They are very Religious......How-ever, The Only way to Heaven Is thru JESUS! Read John 3:3 There is a Big Difference between "Religion" and "SALVATION"! ( This is what separates them from CHRISTIANS>)

Because the "world" and it's ways are rapidly going down the crapper...and we don't want to. We want to live "in" the world but not "of" the world...
Doesn't mean we hate everyone around us, we just want to live the gospel.

I have to live in the world, but I do not have to be OF the world. I do not have to take bad substances into my body, I do not have to bare my body if I odn't want to, I do not have to treat people like they are nothing; I can treat others as I would want to be treated.

When Jesus prayed to his Father in Heaven (he wasn't talking to himself by the way) he said:

John 17:15-16
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

To not be, "of the world," as I understand it, means to not subscribe to worldly goals, but instead to turn our lives over to God and his goals. He can make far more out of our lives than we can.

This becomes clearer as we understand the purpose of life. See http://www.mormon.org/learn/0,8672,792-1,00.html.

I can't speak for a Mormon...I am Christian. God says if we love this world more then we love him, then we do not deserve heaven. Mormons copy-cat Christians with questions like this one.
