There is a difference between asylum seekers, immigrants and illegal immigrants - they, no matter what the Daily Mail will have you believe, are by no means the same thing.

Asylum seekers are fleeing persecution, for instance from Sudan or Zimbabwe. If they go back to their country they will almost certainly be killed. Immigrants are very valuable to the economy because they provide cheap labour AND specialists, for instance a doctor from India who wants better wages in the UK. Illegal immigrants are people who get in illegally without telling the government and without paying taxes. THOSE are the one who need to be punished, not people who face genuine persecution or people who are just born somewhere else but want to WORK here. By all means, throw out the ones who immigrate illegally, or who immigrate legally but don't try to get a job.

its a shame people are so critical of asylum seekers, after all they have fled leaving everything they owned from a war situation, and maybe lost family members etc. I think people would find it in their hearts to be more sympathetic if the chancers (economic migrants inventing stories to claim false asylum) were cracked down on harder though. And those that need refuge from a war should of course go back once its over shouldn't they?
