Both of them go together, but the first one is not true.
if you hang the clothing in the wardrobe without wearing it for a while you gain weight, and that's how it "shrinks"
but as for the first one, it's impossible how you can gain more then the food weights.

i dont think thats true it sounds like rubbish! and ofcourse there are many other ways to shrink or to gain weight apart from those things you know!
