You should neuter your dog, the only unfair and cruel thing to do would be to not get him fixed. Extend his life, save face with friends and family from leg lifting in the house and territorial issues and behaviors..

These behaviors will eventually drive you and him crazy.

On the contrary I would say it's cruel and unfair to leave him entire.

Neutering is not unfair, dogs do not rationalize things, he doesn't actually think about his bits, and wont grieve for them if they go. It is not cruel, at most he will have a day feeling a bit groggy after the op, but nothing cruel there.

I think it's cruel to leave him entire, with all the urges that come to a mature dog, then constantly stopping him following up on those urges. I think sexual frustration could explain a lot of the accidents that happen when people get hurt by dogs.

I think it's cruel NOT to neuter a male dog. Have you ever seen a frustrated intact male dog? They are in TORMENT, and mating them only increases it. They can also get an erection from any kind of excitement (like playing) which they then cannot retract. It's extremely painful and requires medical attention. They can also become excited and ejaculate on you and your furniture, bedding etc. That's why responsible breeders refer to "managing" their stud. It's a lot of work to keep an intact dog happy & healthy. Neutering stops the male from acting out, marking and becoming aggressive. A neutered
male may live up to 30% longer than an intact male. Neutering you dog will make him happier and healthier and it also makes like easier for you.

Yes. It is not cruel to neuter your dog because you do not want to deal with puppies. Also, it will calm most dogs down. The only time I would not neuter a dog is if it was an AKC or other "Papered" animal that I was going to breed.

It is a very good idea to neuter your dog. It will help prevent certain cancers and infections, it will prevent hormone driven behaviors among other things. Your dog will have a happier healthier life because of it. You will also have a more attentive dog.

Brunette..you are wrong..there are very very minimal risks to getting a dog neutered. The benefits far outweigh the minor risks there can be. Obviously you have not seen a dog with testicular cancer, incontinence caused by an enlarged prostrate, fecal incontinence caused by anal fistulas, anal fistulas that are extremely painful and hard to heal, etc.

Yes you should neuter him! It is not cruel, it is acctually better for him! He will become more relaxed, and less fidgety. Also, he won't run around the neighborhood serching for girl dogs in heat. And some boy dogs get cancer in their testicals , so it is healthier. But make sure that you wait till he is at leats 6-8 months and less then 1 year before you neuter him.

It's your dog so you'll have to make that call. Personally, I think it's cruel and unfair to euthanize millions of unwanted animals every year. If more people chose to spay and neuter their pets, that number would go down. Besides when you weigh the health benefits to your dog, it just makes sense to neuter.

Far from being crule it's the best thing to do. It makes life easier for him (he won;t be wanting after every female he smells in heat) and it will also make him a much better pet.

I have 3 males, one female. All are fixed except the baby who will be neutered by the time he's 6 months.

It's really fair and kind to get another dog pregnant, and then have the owner have to take the puppies to the shelter, where they will most likely be put to sleep!

Obviously not, right? Killing baby animals is not fair and kind. Get your dog neutered and everyone will be happy! Dogs only have sex to reproduce, so he's not actually doing anything with his testicles, to be honest.

Unless you are a professional breeder, it is always best to have any animal spayed or neutered, better for the dog, cat & owners... it's also a myth that you have to wait for them to mate or breed one time before spaying or neutering ....TC & Peace
