Disturbing question, but I think I can help.

Without a doubt the Mi-24 is one of Russia's best designs in any mode of attack aircraft, fixed wing or rotory.
A little aeroplane, as you put it, would not normally generate a big enough heat signature (temperature size, not physical, but the bigger the aircraft...).
However, as I debated over how to answer your question, it occurred to me that given the proper/required attack geometry, altitude, and a properly working weapon, it IS possible for a Mi-24, or any other weapons platform for that matter, to shoot a "little aeroplane" out of the sky.

Now an easier way to accomplish the task of "downing" a small aircraft would be simply point the gun and shoot.

And Mi-24 is armed with rockets, Anti Tank missiles and a large cannon.

The cannon would be the best choice for engaging a target as depicted. The Mi-24 is faster and more manueverable than an open biplane like that so wouldn't have too much trouble destroying it.

hi Mi 24 hind is able to attack any aircraft that is flying slower than the hind. approx the limit of speed would be 250 km per hour, or 140 knots. Hind has a movable chin turret, and is able to fire unguided rockets through salvo. it is able to engage aircraft by its antitank missiles.
moreover, it may have two Gsh 23 cannon pods, that are firing in the axis of helicopter.
Last but not least it is even possible to equip hind with AA missiles R-60, seeking infrared.
the small aircraft would have problem to outmaneuver the hind. especially the one that is in your picture. it woudn't be able to runaway either.
the aircraft in your picture would be an easy prey for hind

I wonder what sucker scored the minus and what for he scored it..

anyway if i should choose what side of "sport aircraft vs. hind" dogfight i want fly, I would take hind.

well, the hind does have a fire control computer. sturdy but firing well. Believe me, I have personally set up many times the size of aircraft and was tracking it manually by the spot. you put a dot onto the target, frame it with diamonds, and track it. the computer does the rest. this is the way how the chin gun is fired from copilot gunner. the captain may fire all external stores against the aircraft, namely: S-5 unguided rockets, Gsh 23 cannon pod, GUV combined machineguns pod.
gunner may fire the antitank guided missile against a incoming fighter, and against all slow moving aerial targets, like helicopters etc. I admitt it would be a peace of luck to score a hit by the sturm, not mentioning older falanga.
russain Hinds /unlike ours/ may be fitted with infrared seeking missiles, type R-60.
In fact, the vozdushnyj /=aerial/ setting of copilot gunner's machine gun is also used to attack ground targets when helicopter is firing upwards against the valleys or against the target that are close to the helicopter.
we practise basic interception of unmaneuvering target, then intercepting maneuvering target with prescribed maneuvers, and the last highst training is against a freely maneuvering target. gunnery manual says that the hind shall enter dogfight with helicopters of its weight or heavier. smaller and lighter helis should be attacked from standoff with speed advantage.
hinds serving in the Czechoslovakia were used as interceptors, guarding the western border against american cobras and german hueys. No credited kill, though. one lost due to failed OGE/off ground effect/ hover attempt /high altitude, heavy weight and hot wather combination/
in the present days, hinds were destined to protect the NATO summit in prague, in 2003 i guess. so far

two questions, two answers.

mi24 can enage and destroy any aircraft. However unlikely against a modern fighter.
