Why? Because the ease of clean-up and the fact that foods don't usually stick are huge buying points, so people WANT them.

Personally, I look back on my younger years and how miserable life was before Teflon, and I praise the makers every single day for this fab invention!

Not sure what you are asking. The idea for non-stick pans is "just that", avoid the food from sticking to the pan. This can also be avoided by the use of spray products such as Pam. It can also be reduced by properly preheating the pan and using oils.

With all Tefal pans never over heat them as the surface will break down. You need to season it from time to time.
Heat it with a little oil and when the oil is hot, a drip of water will sizzle, and drain.
Drain and wipe with a cloth.

This is the same method I use for my cast iron pans as well.
