Actually eating at least 3 regular meals a day will increase your metabolism. Skipping meals (such as breakfast) will slow your metabolism. I'm not sure where you heard this myth but I have never heard that one.

Breakfast stands for breaking the fast you create during long periods of rest. Your body slows its metabolism to conserve energy loss by holding onto the calories. Eating a proper breakfast will increase your metabolic rate, Stay away from simple carbs and you will off to great start for your day.

I've never once heard someone say breakfast slows your metabolism. It can be argued that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
It kick starts your metabolism after sleep and gets your body on the road to burning calories the rest of the day.
So basicaly, medical science says the exact opposite of what you asked. Think about it, it's pretty obvious.

No, it actually speeds up your metabolism. You have to eat to start the "furnace" to burn calories and fat. Breakfast means to break the fast. Fasting can cause the body to go into starvation mode and not burn calories and fat. You will have less weight problems if you eat 3 large meals or 5 small meals a day to keep your metabolism burning at peak performance. Cut out the foods with trans fats excess sugar and salt, and you will have a good diet. Don't forget the whole grains, lean meats, fruits and vegetables.

No, just the opposite. It's better to eat regularly so that you send your body the message that it's time to get going. Not eating just trains your body to store fat.
