How does the person holding the gun regard it? Of course it is a tool like any other tool. A hammer or an axe can be used as a weapon to take life. the difference is that this particular tool was made specifically to cause harm or take a life. This makes a special kind of tool. When someone obtains a gun, he is saying that he is ready and willing to take a life, whatever the reason for taking it may be. That is why I could not own a gun. I do not want to take a life under any circumstances.
Now the person obtaining the gun may have a noble purpose in mind, such as providing food for his family by hunting or even protecting himself and his family from real danger. In these instances the gun can be a good tool. But as soon as that gun is picked up with the intent to cause harm to another human or even to an animal unnecessarily, that changes.

Guns are incapable of either. They are inanimate, nonliving things. A gun and other weaponry are perfectly harmless on their own.
It is the screwball that OWNS the gun that is the "good/evil" thingie.
I believe in the right to own a gun. I also don't think further gun control legislation is needed. What needs to be done is strict enforcement of the laws already on the books.....and - harshest penalties for those who sell to people who don't meet the criteria - and - even harsher penalties for those who have guns illegally.
But, of course, that would mean that our lazy a$$ government would actually have to DO something.......

Guns are blamed for any mishap that takes place with a firearm,if used correctly they are a tool or a sporting device that a lot of people enjoy. They are used in the olympics for competition, not as a harmful device. In the days that modern day doesn't know they were used as survival providing a way for food. Guns don't kill, people kill!

Guns are like money. It's a tool to be used for good or evil but not good or evil in and of itself.

Neither. It is better to ask if the person owning and using the gun is good or evil.

A firearm, by itself, is neither, it is just there, another object that exists, and can be put to use by either those who are good or those who are evil. The gun is only a means for those who chose to act by good or evil motivations.

Guns are inanimate. They are neither good or evil. The one that uses them is who can be good or evil, not the damned gun. Your poll is a fantasy.

The question is so vague that it defies understanding.
Guns themselves are neutral objects, neither good, nor evil.
They throw rocks at high velocity to kill things. Rocks have been thrown to kill things for millenia.
Guns are used by cowards to commit crimes. Those cowards are evil.
Guns are used by law enforcement to neutralize cowards who commit crimes. Law enforcement is good.
Guns are used by soldiers in war. Depending on the context, war can be either good or evil.
Guns are used by citizens who revolt against their government. This is how America was formed. That was certainly good.
Guns will be used by citizens who haven't been disarmed by liberal propoganda and subsequent legislation, to protect this country from invasion. Those citizens will be good.
Guns are used to wound or kill an intruder who would kill you, rape your wife and daughter, and steal your stuff.
But guns themselves are neither good nor evil, but are tools wielded by good or evil people.

Guns like hammers are tools, the weapon itself if handled correctly is no more dangerous than a hammer.
It's when a nutcase gets a gun that it becomes a tool of death.
If every American carried a weapon (gun) and knew how to use it the crime rate would practically vanish.
