I don't "seek" it. I feel it. What could be better than serenity?
(I call it harmony.) It's right there! I don't believe that serenity/harmony is something one goes searching for.

What puzzles the heck out of me, is that some people seem to thrive on stress and chaos..... as for my self, I seek serenity because I tend to be a worry wort, I have no idea as yet what the heck I get out of being that way, but I am, and it's not good for the blood pressure! Maybe as Father K said, it's a control thing, maybe I better read over that serenity prayer a few times!

As beatlefan says, serenity is a blessed relief from being whirled around like a leaf in a dust devil. And sometimes when I'm at work, that's just how it feels.

So I tend to seek out the serene around me. Walking home through countryside or just 'unwinding' on the deck or even just here for a while.

Though of course, as DRAGON says, serenity isn't something you 'find'. You just need to tap into the well of it that lies at the heart of our being. It's just sometimes that's easy to forget in all the hustle and bustle! So it's not really 'seeking' is it? ☺

Yes, this seeking must be undertook by the ones that start to become aware. I sought it before in money, women, and toys. I was asleep to what is. I was looking for serenity in things and in the future. Ha, ha, I was dead to the only place that is real. There is an old saying still true today by someone that undertook this quest, "it will never be found by seeking, but it is only seekers who find it". ~ : ) I will add one of my own although something like it has been said before, in truth there is no time. Oh, and one more before I go, "it has taken time to misguide so completely, but it takes no time to be what one truly is". Thanks for the question for as you know these q/a are the compassionate light of the one true............

It relieves me of "control". "Control" is an illusion, anyway.

In St. Luke's Gospel 12:25, Jesus says: "And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life's span?" (NASB)

For me, the whole concept is wrapped up in the "Serenity Prayer":

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Serenity is a feeling of inner peace of the mind and body when it is in a state tranquility, free from agitation or anxiety. It creates a sense of joy and happiness in an individual's life, often resulting in a calm and relaxed attitude.

With a definition such as that, need you ask?

If we were to seek chaos, then I think that would be a strange religion / philosophy.
