i want to lose alittle weight and tone up my body...wut exactly do push ups and sit ups burn... and wut other exercises should i do?

please answer...summer is coming up

What do you mean by "burn". Trainer use it to mean a pain you feel in a set of muscles you are exercising. The pain is not a stabbing or torn feeling just a sore and worked sensation. During exercise of any type you burn calories. If you burn more calories than you consume in your diet, then you will burn off fat and convert some of the fat to muscle.

Push ups will work the upper arms and sit ups will work the abdominal muscles. You will need twisting movement to deal with love handles.

they dont burn anything. they build muscle which (if you are trying to lose) is gona make the areas look bigger since there is gona be more muscle underneath the layer of fat if you dont do cardio.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

You said you knew that target workouts don't work. Well, sit-ups and push-ups will strengthen those muscles, but nothing will decrease fat in those areas. Strength training is good for you though. Maybe you can bulk up other areas of your body and the trouble areas won't be as noticeable.

Push ups and crunches are useless if you want to lose weight.
They only help tone your body, but not reduce the fat significantly.
If you want to burn flab, do some cardio workout.

they burn a few calories but these exercises aren't for that, they are to tone your body.
to burn calories walking or jogging is the best( and most natural way) and it also builds up your stamina. get a mini trampoline they're good to.

ya sure sit ups and ull ups will surely hel you lose weight.... along with that jog everyday in the morning and do cycling tooo.... avoid oily items. especially in the night time... have bread with fresh veg affter the exercise .......
