There's always at least a slight risk of salmonella (and possibly other illnesses) if you consume raw eggs. That applies to cookie dough, cake batter, pancake batter---whatever.

If you've made the dough yourself (ie, not store-bought), the risk is probably higher than if you used a commercially available brand, like Pillsbury. Commercial brands use more streamlined methods, which probably includes pasteurized eggs (notice that I said "probably". The ingredients list will tell you for sure). Pasteurized eggs "keep" better, and travel better, than raw eggs, so it makes economic sense for cookie companies to use them.

If you're eating Cookie dough ice cream, then they have definitely used pasteurized eggs; the product is intended to be eaten raw.

And you don't have to worry about flour at all.

It is never advisable to eat raw cookie dough that has eggs in it.

Here is some information from a site that makes theirs without eggs, so eat up everyone!!

Cookie Dough Creations is the only place on the planet selling real, raw cookie dough in a wide variety of gourmet desserts. You heard right! Rich, gooey cookie dough, just like mom used to make (made without eggs so it's safe to eat). This stuff is serious.

Well you could eat it cause cookie dough is infact edible. However because of the presence of raw eggs you could get infected with one or various diseases if it were contaminated such as salmonella you could also develop food poisoning.
“Cookie dough that's made with raw eggs could make you sicker than a dog. Don't worry about cookie dough ice cream--the eggs have been cooked.” (The prevention convention.)

go for it - let me know how it works out. if you are still around. Seriously though. raw flour is never a problem. Raw eggs so long as they have been handled properly stored properly and are fresh is like a one in a million chance. even less if you can find organic free ranged chicken eggs.

I've eaten raw cookie dough every now and then. Even though it is relatively safe, it is best to eat small amounts of it at one time. Don't sit there with a bowl of it & eat it all - you will get a terrible belly ache. (been there, done that!)

Flour won't hurt you

Raw eggs might.

Salmonella is something that can kill you, quite literally.
So, as good as it might taste, I'd skip the raw cookie dough.

You're not supposed to, but I've been doing it for 18 years and never been hurt. My mom ate the raw packaged stuff when she was pregnant with me and i don't have any birth defects, diseases, or anything wrong with me!!! Technically they just say no because if you get salmonella they don't want you sueing them..EAT AWAY!!
