I worked 3 jobs in the last two years and I am trying to get the w2's from my older jobs. So I have not done my taxes in two years (which is no excuse). Will I get into trouble, for not doing them for so long? Is there a way to have an extension?

You dont get in trouble but its always good to do your taxes especially if you owe or you will be hit with interest and penalties by the irs and they may possibly even garnish your wages. if you dont owe it doesnt hurt to collect the few dollars that were taken from you. there is no deadline if you dont owe but if you ever plan on buying a house its best to have proof of your 1040 income tax preparation copies. by the way you dont have to file an extention, extensions are only for those who owe money. just simply stop by any tax preparation office and they should have the programs for the years you did not complete your taxes, how ever you will need to send them by mail if its not for this year because you can not file prior year returns electronically. Good Luck!

time to file an extension for 2006 is past. time to file an extension for 2005 was over a year ago.
If you owe tax for either 2005 or 2006, yes, in a way you will be in trouble. (is that good for you?) If you owe tax when you file the returns, you will be paying a penalty for filing late plus interest on the tax due.
If you get a refund, then you get the refund and no fines or penalty.
I take it you work to make money?? so if you are to get a refund wouldn't you want or need that money? and if you are going to pay additional tax,, the sooner you file the less interest and/or fines you pay.

It's too late to get an extension for either of those years.

If you owed money for either year, there will be a penalty for filing late and for paying late, along with interest on the overdue amount. If you have a refund coming, you'll get it, with no penalties. Get them filed as soon as you can, though - if you owe, penalties will keep accumulating until you do, and if you have a refund coming, you don't get it until you file.
If you're talking about being in trouble beyond having to pay, then no, you aren't going to jail or anything like that.

You mentioned your employer didn't provide W2's. Let the IRS know that. There is a form you could have filled out that will estimate based on your paystubs. Employers are obligated to provide W2's (or 1099's).

If you go through a tax agent you'll be ok. Also if they owe you refund it's no problem, but you will face a penalty if you owe them.....
