Perhaps it's time for me to leave - I have never experienced so much bigotry, hatred, lack of compassion, homophobia, shallow rhetoric, misguided beliefs, lack of thought, and uncompromised, narrow minded intolerance. Religious and Spirituality is the first place I’d look to find the exact opposite of these. You people really have a long way to go before you can find contentment within yourselves and only then will you find happiness. I “pray” for you in hope that one day you see the error in your judgments and you find your place of peace.

Religion sets up the game plan so to speak for "bigotry, hatred, lack of compassion, shallow rhetoric, misguided beliefs, lack of thought, and uncompromised, narrow minded tolerance." I may have not used your language..LOL! but I would ask more the question that Victor Frankl used in his book, "Man's Search for Meaning." He asked the question: " Do you believe because you belong or do you belong because you believe?" I do not think anyone in this world was ever presented with a plethora of different positions and thoughts about life. People believed because they belonged. They wanted acceptance. Each of us is born into a family and indoctrinated by the beliefs of our families, whether it is a mother or father, a grandparent, an aunt, uncle, orphanage, or some other institution. I was born into a Catholic family. A family, with a mother and father, who were reacting to their upbringing. So "set" on doing the right thing and bringing me up with values they held dear, that I went to Catholic grade school, high school and college. I was given a very rigid sense of what is right and wrong. I was told about a God who desired my devotion. I was told that only through his son Jesus Christ could I come to him. The personification of God, was decidely male, and I was told that if I did not agree with the concepts introduced, and thought differently I was a "sinner" and that I should go to "confession." Mostly I was told I was born with this thing called "original sin" and that only through following the commandments, and pledging my devotion to God, and pleasing God would I go to heaven. I would earn my place in heaven, as though devotion to God was a contest. Eventually I could not stand my own hypocricy. I had to leave the Catholic church. I then tried a Guru-Disciple relationship and yet the same rigid guidelines were set up, yet with a slightly different plot. But the expectations of how my devotion was to be given, and in what degree was set. That through contemplation, meditation and devotion to the Guru I would reach "enlightenment." Of course if I failed I was assured I had a few more lifetimes to get it correct. I was comforted and I belonged...I had reached the pinnacle. I was on the "fast track" then..:) Eventually I discovered impropriety within the organization, and most of all I discovered that I had not grown in love, compassion or tolerance.

Now I am on my own journey. Yes, sometimes it is difficult finding similar hearts, but I feel more free. I have learned that it is ok for people to live their lives the way they should. That I must allow others their feelings and thoughts, although I do not have to agree with them. It allows complete freedom. And most of all great love in my life. I am far from perfect and I am not certain there is anything to perfect quite frankly. I pray for what you pray for. Peace for everyone, including myself, because with that great gift you leave all those things you mentioned in your first sentence behind.

There may be a lot of people in here who have a distorted view on life and what is really important but that is why I am in here. I try and help people with there problems and it would be great if I could teach some of these people more about God. Some people have been misled in their beliefs but if we all just give up on those people without trying to share the truth we are no better than them. What is worse really not knowing the truth or knowing the truth and not sharing it.

mark,
That's really good, and I mean it. Who told you to have faith in humanity? You have now learned that you can't trust man, I repeat, that's really good. And as you look around in your past, do you see that you yourself are not too trustworthy when it comes to certain things as well?

That's what I am talking about when it comes to the God I believe in. You can trust Him. He is trustworthy. You just have to learn to trust Him, and then you will have a thing to focus on that you can be delivered from your unturstworthy nature with.

So you are right in feeling frustrated. Even your friends can only be trusted with certain things, and not with other things.

So the choice is yours. You can ignore what I am telling you, or you can see that IF there is anything that can be trusted, it's God.

Then you must also leave this world. YA! R &S is just a microcosm of the real world out there. Whatever your belief is, perhaps you can agree with this observation: 'the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One.'

You surely do like to generalize and generalizations are never helpful.

I imagine if you ask many people, the majority will say they are happy. Religion and politics happen to be the two subjects that most people carry the strongest opinions about which is why you see what you see. The other social issues are a derivative of that.

Perhaps you should look to yourself before pointing fingers at others.

Another condescending bullsh!tter. Are you f*cking perfect? Are you better than anyone else and in a position to judge them?

Edit- My reaction isn't because I'm a bigot it's because of the stupidity of your post. People with self righteous attitudes like yours diminish these boards as much as the trolls and bigots do. People like you have ruined the enjoyment of others with your thoughtless attitude and lack of consideration and respect. Sure you'll complain but what do you contribute to improve things- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. You're pathetic.

Amen, But basically we are not to put our faith in anything but GOD. By putting faith in anything other than GOD,especially if it is more faith than you have in GOD, He will show you why you shouldn't put your faith in the unfaithful.

Take care and may GOD bless you spiritually.
