as an off and on again smoker I can relate with this though
Towns near us, one in particular has passed no smoking bans for all public places...bars, restaurants etc...then a college policeman was killed by a drunk student he had stopped for the violation, NOW get this...the city council is trying to determine "how to allow" a control over selling beer to the so called "adults"....next week showed a picture of 2 students carrying a KEG of beer for a party....now mind you they won't be smoking in a public place, won't have IDs checked to see if a minor is drinking, won't serve a lot of food probably but they will get in their cars after drinking KEGS of beer but omg be sure they don't SMOKE!! and this is a health issue?????? get real
Just another where minority rules and as for "they" pay for smokers health care.....well who else is paying? yes, smokers are....plus who is paying for those that are drinking their way to health care issues?
Frankly, I think its taking away the owners rights of his business to determine whether to allow or not allow smoking in his owned building.
Like I said before I get bashed, I am just an off and on again smoker and don't smoke in public due to habit but I have eyes to see whats going on at least. I work in the medical field also so can see health issues from a heck of a lot of people that never smoked nor had 2nd hand smoke....its genetics as far as I and some researchers can see.

As a smoker, I was very cross to wake up this morning and hear that smoking in my car - which I do frequently - is now banned. No notice, no warning. My car is not a company car, I rarely have passengers (and if I do, I don't smoke) and I don't dispose of my cigarettes out of my window. I have been smoking longer than I have been driving, and I can easily find and light a cigarette without taking my eyes off the road - I find it more distracting trying to change the radio station. And in 15 years of smoking whilst driving, I have never once dropped a cigarette in my lap. After a bit of research, however, I discovered that smoking is not banned, as such - it is simply against advice. If you are driving dangerously, committing a driving offence or involved in an accident whilst smoking, then you are going to face a more serious penalty. However, smoking in your car is considered inadvisable rather than illegal and a contributary factor if you do something wrong. So, I shall still be happily lighting up whilst driving - it's about the only place I can smoke without pissing someone off nowadays.

Flying isn't the main cause for the hole in the ozone.
Personally I don't care where you smoke, it should be up to the individual business on whether or not they would like to allow smoking in their building. I can always choose not to go to the business or whether or not I want to work at the business.

One of my more vocal coworkers climbs into his family SUV polluting the air for his asthmatic daughter and then has the audacity to blame smokers for her difficulty with the illness.
