Yes, there is only one true God.
Jews, Christians (including Catholics), and Muslims all worship the God of Abraham.
Each group probably thinks they know some stuff better than the others including Catholics like me.
But Catholics do not say that any of the others follow a false god. In fact the Catholic Church teaches:
+ About Non-Catholic Christian Churches:
Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.
Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.
All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.
+ About Judaism:
"The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions, is already a response to God's revelation in the Old Covenant. To the Jews "belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ"; "for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.
+ About Islam:
The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day.
+ With love in Christ.

There is only one God. The Catholic Church is the one True Church but Protestants also worship the same God, in their own way. The Catholic Church is "the Way".

Ephesians 4:4-5
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism...
If you are serious about knowing the truth and the salvation plan in the New Testament then read the second chapter of Acts. That is a first hand account of the very beginning of the New Testament church. What is recorded in these scriptures is the perfect and undiluted salvation plan.
The catholic church was a political invention of Constantine. It was the merger of pagan faith and the pure Christian faith. This merger was initiated in 324 AD at the Counsel of Nicea. Look it up. Why would God wait three centuries to initiate the true church? The obvious answer is that He did not! You might also ask why so many other faiths and religions were invented so long after the events in Acts 2. Was God mistaken? Were all these other "prophets" sent to correct His oversight?
Haven't you ever wondered what all the rituals and statues and costumes of all these other religions and faiths have to do with Jesus and the simple salvation He offered? You don't need any of that to love and serve God. He made the salvation plan plain and simple in Acts 2:38 and 39.

There is only one God worshiped by both Protestants and Catholics. What you're probably running into is one protestant church telling you that all the other protestant churches have false teachings/worship a false god. This is typical because while nearly all protestants are anti-Catholic, they equally claim that they have the right teachings and others don't - protestant vs. protestant.
The truth is that there is one Church, one Faith that Jesus gave us and that church has been around for the past 2,000 years - the Roman Catholic Church.
God bless.

Catholics and Protestants worship the same God but the the teachings of the Catholic Church are not Biblical.
The most crucial problem with the Roman Catholic Church is its belief that faith alone in Christ is not sufficient for salvation. The Bible clearly and consistently states that receiving Jesus Christ as Savior, by grace through faith, grants salvation (John 1:12; 3:16,18,36; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10,13; Ephesians 2:8-9). The Roman Catholic Church rejects this. The official position of the Roman Catholic Church is that a person must believe in Jesus Christ AND be baptized AND receive the Eucharist along with the other sacraments AND obey the decrees of the Roman Catholic Church AND perform meritorious works AND not die with any mortal sins AND etc., etc., etc. Catholic divergence from the Bible on this most crucial of issues, salvation, means that yes, Catholicism is a false religion. If a person believes what the Catholic Church officially teaches, he/she will not be saved. Any claim that works or rituals must be added to faith in order for salvation to be achieved is a claim that Jesus’ death was not sufficient to fully purchase our salvation.

It really depends on what religion that you believe in. Protestants, Catholics, and Jews all believe in the same God. However in the Buddhism and the Muslim religion, there are other Gods. For example in Buddhism there is the believe in Nirvana, the achieve of inner peace. And in the Muslim religion, the God is Allah. So depending on what religion you're looking at, there could be different Gods. It's your own choice to believe in what religion.

There is only one God, and one Church or community of believers. The Catholic Church was created centuries after Jesus died and Protestantism centuries after that. The Christian God is the Muslim God, and the Hindu God and the Zoroastrian God, etc.

Catholics and Protestants worship the same God. To paraphrase the late Pope, John Paul II, the things that unite us are far greater than the things that divide us.
