Been to Vegas six months ago and made a few dollars playing roulette, but like the odds in Black Jack better so want to try it. Anyone won? Did you follow a game plan? Example: split on 4's not on 10's or only split on 10;s, when to double down etc, take insurance or dont take it?......etc......stuff like that is what I am inquiring about.....Thanks! Good casino with fair and minimum bet Black Jack tables? Staying at MM Grand any info on that front helps too...

OK try this
Spit 8 and under Keep 9 and above
Do not double on 10 or 11 only 12% time will you improve over 17
Do not take a bust card if dealer shows a 5 card and under please don't feel that you have to take their bust card The dealer has a high % or taking a bust when they show % and under
Its a gut thing if the dealer is showing 6,7,8
if dealer is showing a 9 or higher take card to improve your hand try to get in the 18-21 range

This is simply a variation on the "double the bet" roulette scheme. The idea is you bet on one number and double the bet every time you lose. And it fails on exactly the same reasoning, the edge goes to the house. You MAY win whether you use this scheme or not, for a short run, but in the long run, odds favor the house. There is nothing NEW here. It USED to be that counting cards worked at blackjack, but ever since they went to multiple decks in the shoe, counting became impossible for unaided people to do, even though in theory counting STILL would work to favor your odds! Changing the number of decks does NOT change the ratios of winning cards to losing cards. Odds are still 4 in 52 per deck, 1 in 13 overall, that the next card will be an ace... By knowing how many aces (and other critical cards) have already been played, you can see what your odds are for the remainder of the shoe that the next card will be an ace. Do you see what the difficulty IS here? Your brain simply can not do the math, and you end up losing overall. NO SCHEME of betting will work in ANY game of chance where randomness rules the game. There is NO such thing as LUCK, and no card game remembers history, so the next card drawn WILL be determined by the potential odds at that moment and there is NO GUARANTEE of any kind... The casino's LOVE system players like you, since they KNOW that they will WIN and you will LOSE. Who do you think pays for all of those lights in Vegas? The losers, of course... Bottom line: if the casinos find out there IS a system that works for a particular game, they simply will no longer play THAT particular game. THAT is why they modified blackjack to use multiple decks, to defeat card counting, which DID work to improve the player odds. Multiple decks does NOT change the strategy of the house which gives them an edge in the odds, but it DOES defeat the card counters simply because your brain can't keep track of the cards from multiple decks...

You can print out the basic strategy chart at

http://wizardofodds.com/blackjack/images/bj_4d_h17.gif

and take it with you into the casino.

That chart is part of a larger article at

http://wizardofodds.com/blackjack

that, among other things, gives you some advice on which rule variations are best and worst for the player.

Good Luck

before you check in go directly to the gift shop and buy a basic strategy card. study it while you are waiting in line to check in. bring the card with you to the black jack table. how much do you love playing roulette? you will play 75 hands of black jack per hour. you will play 25 rounds of roulette per hour. the expected loss is similar so play what you like. it is more than comparing one half percent against 5 and a quarter percent..

Go find a small casino and play there.
hit 16 and under and stand on 17.
double down with 11
split 10's and 8's

good luck.
