Everyone should put themselves first, as without themselves they can't help anyone else
As for "god", not even in the queue as far as I'm concerned

yes we must put ourselves 1st because it is only if we are in a stable position that we can help others.
e.g.say your parents have saved some money for u to get your education so that u can get a good job.which decision is more beneficial for society?
(1) you give away all that money in charity at once and then get a menial job somewhere and then struggle for survival often having to take loans or
(2)spend that money wisely on your own education, qualify yourself, get a stable job with a steady income and then genuinely set about trying to help others as much as possible throughout your life?
i think No.2 makes sense......and as for
"We lie, cheat, steal and kill each other but claim we worship "god". We smoke, do drugs and alcohol, "===not everybody would do those things and u can't blame the religion simply because people do not practice it.i don't think ANY religion actually TELLS anyone to do those things.it's the people's own fault.

I understand exactly how u feel. I wuz that way for awhile. Then i realized the reason i kept thinking this way was because i had a bad experience with Christians. The reason we kill, n do all this evil stuff is because of the first sin. And because God and the devil didnt battle yet Jesus died on the cross so he can forgive us for his sins. So we wont go to hell. And the reason we put him first is because out of all people u know who hurt u the worst???? We may think he hurts us because of how many test he put us through but "wut doesnt kill u makes u stronger" so he helps us every single day. The reason we cant determine our death is because God gives every last one of us a purpose in life....and he wants to give us as much time as possible to get this done and when he sees you did or dont care to accomplish this purpose then he takes u away. He would be wasting blessings if he allowed us to determine ur own death. Death is supposed to be painless and instant and so this is why he takes us and we dont take our own life cause there will b pain.

"So-called" religious people IS the answer to your question.
IF one puts God 1st, they are putting them self 1st also by following Him the best as they can. It all comes down to Spiritual Ignorance and Spiritual Blindness of God and His Holy Word. (the Scriptures AND Christ the Living Word See and Read John 1:1) They are miserable and as the old saying goes, "misery loves company" No ONE should treat anyone else different then they want to be treated. There are a lot of Ifs and Butt's, Maybe's, and so on. It is like this about the ones who I have mentioned above. IF a Bull Frog had Wings, he would NOT bump his Butt on the Ground every time he hopped. In a lot of my Answers I use the Term Spiritual Ignorance and Blindness, BUT it is the Truth, and it seems that it is only getting worse every day.

These people who "say" they put God First and then turn around and do all of the crap you talk about are hypocrites. They use the "God shield" but what they don't address is the evilness in there own lives. It is people like that who drive others away from the saving Grace of Christ and into the deception and lies of Satan.
We SHOULD put God first in our lives but by doing so it should drive us to follow His commandments. By putting God first, we would strive to better this world and seek out those who are lost and suffering and give them comfort. By putting God first, we would seek to destroy evil and protect those that cannot protect themselves like unborn children, the elderly, and infirmed.
God put us here on earth to spread His Love and Strength. Wouldn't the world be awesome if everyone worked together to ensure everyone was provided for and taken care of? In order to do this, though, our eyes cannot stay on ourselves but look to others and their needs.

It might be hard to believe, but no everyone do all the things you mention. But I have noticed one thing, people who are not "too" religious would make sure that they are giving recognition to the one the help them through the most trying time and if you listen closely, they always list themselves 2 or 3.So why put God first, besides,is He's the reason we are here now?

God does not make you cheat do drugs smoke get drunk or anything which is destructive. Man makes that decision! God gave us free will to choose. If we choose to do stupid things like doing drugs etc. why blame God? In my life I put God first, then my Family , Country, Duty and Personal honor . You know, it is very convenient to blame God for our mistakes, I wonder who you would blame if there was no God?

Further reading is required for many along with ability to understand what is written.
Example: If a person chooses to lie what are they "really" doing? As far as I know that is a chosen act of not putting self first and second - choosing to sow discord on the person they are being dishonest with. It is an act of doing something that is against God, an act of chaos and without love...therefore it is an act of canceling out self by choice. It is clearly stated why this is an abomination to our Lord to see one of His children doing so to themselves and others.

Putting God first IS putting ourselves first. As the Fear of the Lord is to respect Him. Knowing He has been around a while, and knows what things to avoid in Life. If we want to have any measure of Peace of Mind.

The flaw in your argument you indicate yourself by putting "so-called" in quotes. There are definitely people who abuse religion and don't live according to the precepts they preach. But they're not the example.
If you put God first, you honor His creation. For Christians, the primary call is one of love - love God, AND love your neighbor as yourself. The first Christians were known because of the way they loved one another.
If you love yourself first - you're just selfish.
If you truly love God, you will also love and take care of His creation.
And, hopefully, do something truly spectacular.
