John Lennon said, "What a Wonderful World is there was no religion". Consider that religion helps control the masses but, because they don't try agree on God, over 100 million have been victims of religion/sectarian violence. It's a shame that God doesn't get involved with religion.

Having the entire world popuation or even nearly the entire world population refute belief in a higher power, at this point in the evolution of our minds, is impossible. Thats not to say with a great deal of education, common sense, and logic you cant convince many people that religion is cooky, but even if you are able to make everyone in the world extremely educated, intelligent and most importantly secure in themselves and their lives, you still would not be able to rid the world of religion because it is such a part of our instinctual minds.
However, if you could somehow magically make religion dissappear I would guess that yes, overall we would be better off. History has shown that athiest societies hold the same basic values of understanding, compassion, and other basic virtues which religion emphasizes. They do not become insane, raping, murdering, free for all hell holes as one might guess.

Well I know I am

When I help someone it's not to garner brownie points with my diety
I dont have to judge or hate others according to some scribblings written by goat herders
I dont have to get all orgasmic that people who don't believe the same things I do are going to be punished for all eternity
My head doesn't hurt from all the illogical nonsense I'm expected to accept as true
I can have a live and let live policy and not spend my time complaining about not being allowed to force others to practice my beliefs

I'll be interested to see if any pro religious folks go with the "we'd all be raping, murdering and stealing" fallacy.

How could you possibly know? And the people that answered, yes, how could they possibly know?

Quite funny the people that slam religion yet have freedom of speech and religion because a great Christian nation rose up and defeated two of the most evil powers in the history of the world. Nazi Germany, and Imperialist Japan.

Often times I think it was not worth it. 295,000 US servicemen, mostly Christian died in WW II. Canadians, Brits, Aussies, Indians (India), French, and many others died too.

So my question is: Would the world have been better off if the Christians would have allowed Hitler and Tojo to control most of the world? Sometimes I wonder about that.

Aw, let the people have their hopes and dreams for a brighter tomorrow. You see how the world is now. Wars, child molestations, killings, rapes, physical and mental abuse, on and on. Can you imagine what it would be like if nobody had any hope that there was anything beyond this life. That once this life ends, there is nothing? This place would be a complete madhouse. As if it isn't bad enough already.

actual, particular! I be conscious many everybody is pointing out the Christian faith... do no longer see why whilst it fairly is approximately Islam. the reality of the issue is that I fairly have in no way had one individual provide me a Bible verse that recommended violence till it became in some way, justified (self-protection case in point). The Christian faith is totally non violent, basically simply by fact many so-called Christians have carried out evil issues, does no longer advise that Christianity is evil. Islam, on the different hand, is violent, and evil on an entire. Islam, from the 2nd it have been given skill (even contained for the time of Muhammad) became a violent, oppressive faith. in actuality, it became Muhammad that made it so. i might respond to the assorted slander and lies of those, of course, anti-Christian answerers, yet I lack the time. In end i might opt to declare. check out the link I fairly have presented. come across it. Have a severe high quality day- and could your eyes see the certainty of Islam (it fairly is violent, misogynistic, terrorist inclinations). P.S. human beings! The asker did no longer say to eliminate all Muslims! He stated to eliminate ISLAM!

It according to how you look at it. Religion keeps me in line. I fear the consequences of my actions when I get to Heaven, and so I try to act as the Bible says. Without religion, I guess I would have nothing to keep me in line, and probably be a worse person without it.

Man is as a god (Gen. 3:5-6). Should we not believe in self (albeit God's created beings)???
