Why would it be dangerous?
But, it's never wise to give an sort of animal as a gift.
You'd have to be sure that they want a cat and that the cat would be going to a good home.
Best to check with them first, or get them a different gift.

The only way it would be dangerous for a newly married couple to get a cat is if you both are going to be together all of the time and not spending any time with the cat.A cat needs alot of attention and love and if you do not think that you can give this to a cat at this time then you should not get one, visit a friends cat instead . It would be a sin not to spend play time etc with a new cat, the only other option would be get two cats instead of one so they will have each other as company when you can not be there. I have two new kittens and i play with them before i go to work, when i get home and then again when i go to bed .The cat could also be jealous of the time you spend with your husband so you should think of the pros and the cons before you decide to get a cat good luck, get a cat when the time is right for you and when you have the time to give equal attention to your husband and the cat, both of them need a lot of attention and love.I am sorry i read the question wrong i thought the cat was for you, well all of the above still applies to them, if they can give it alot of attention and love then by all means yes, get them a cat but you have to find out for sure if they would want one. good luck

No one, in any circumstances, should ever buy a pet for people unless they are 167% sure that the gift is acceptable. It is not a gift. You are giving people a 10 year commitment to the care of another being. It is extraordinary arrogance to do that to anyone (not to mention the inevitability of harm to the animal if the gift proves to be unwelcome.)

It depends on the couple (alergies) and the cat.
If they are expecting or have an infant I would say no, flat out.
Some cats love attention, and don't like to lose it. . even to an infant. There have been cases of cats suffocating infants, presumably because of the time the owners now spend with their child rather than the pet.
(the origin of the myth that cats were evil creatures that suck the breath out of small children)

Not dangerous, but they'll wonder why you chose to give them a cat.

never ever a good idea to give a pet as a gift. they probably would like money a little more. also a pet is a good starting point for them to start there life together, they can do it together.
