I have a small, slightly painful lump behind my ear. I thought it might be scar tissue, b/c my abusive ex-boyfriend shut my head in my front door, but scar tissue shouldn't be painful, should it? What could it be? Serious answers only please. Thanks!!

Hi, I would think it was a pimple. You should check behind your ear using two mirrors - I am sure you know what a pimple looks like so you will know right away if is one or not. If not, it could be a cyst or something. If it isn't a pimple, then you definitely need to see a doctor just to make sure it isn't something more serious.

As for scar tissue being painful, it really depends. I have scar tissue that is very painful but I have nerve damage there so it just depends on the situation. Again, see your doctor to make sure. Better safe than sorry.

Scar tissue can be painful but this sounds more like it could be a pimple. It is not uncommon to get pimples around the ear. To be on the safe side though I would recommend seeing your dr to have this evaluated to see what they think could be going on.
