I was hanging out with someone. This person was giving me some advice on dating. Some seemed to make sense. Some seemed to be pretty good. Some I believe would not work for me. I am having trouble trying to figure out which advice to listen to and which to ignore. I believe the person who gave it to me is a bit of a player. I was wondering how to know whether someone is a player or not? I think if I know this it will help me to know which pieces of advice to keep and which to ignore.

By the way, I am not stating the sex of the person ...because I want to hear from guys and girls. I also want to hear about guys and girls ...players and not players.

Thank you!

Also this person is a semi-friend of mine ...a friend of a friend of mine. We have only hung out a couple of times. (This is just added info in case it helps).

I'm a guy interested in in dating girls. I was just curious about players/not players guys and girls.

This person is just a friend ... who was giving advice.

If the advice is given that leads to only a physical interaction with the person, or if the goal of the advice leads to sex, then you may have received some player advice. Just because it was advice on how to get someone in the bed doesn't mean its not good advice. You just don't have to take the advice all the way to the bedroom. Use the advice to get closer but hold back on the sex part.

Usually players have a natural talent in reading people and knowing what to say. So hearing their advice may not be such a bad idea. You might learn something about how to really understand the person you are interested in. Maybe you will learn how to help break down barriers so you can grow together.

So don't discard the advice just because the person who gave it is a potential player.

To recognize a player: the person lies about where they've been, where they going, what they doing, or have done. Even it is a little white lie. They constantly flirt or tease the opposite gender with lots of touching (mostly inappropriatlly like slapping someone's butt or thigh). The person will consider and put everyone on social status. So they won't even give attention those "lower" than them unless if they want something. Basically players are users and abusers of other people. And they are defintly haters of others because there are insecure of themselves.

A player is a person that is just out to see how many people they can conquer without regards to those people's feelings.

Let me give you some good advice. Just be yourself. Try to give the person that you are with your attention, and be nice and pleasant. You will do fine. There is no key to dating. Each date is different, because every person is different.

If you feel that the person who gave you advice is a player, then it's best not to follow it.

Here's some advice though:

BE YOURSELF!!

If the date in question likes you for being yourself, that's great. If she doesn't then that means it wasn't meant to be, and move on.

if the person who gave the advice goes for girl-to-girl or guy-to-guy then they are definetly players/sl***
