I bought a new labtop and it has Windows Vista, but after watching some Beryl 0.2.0 on youtube I am considering going to Ubuntu. I want to know if it will run the same apps as on my vista and when changing will it reformat?

The two Operating Systems are majorly different. Ubuntu Linux does not support many applications that you may be running in Windows. Only you can tell that. You can indeed run programs in many cases that do the same thing. Open Office in linux is similar to MS Office (there are differences and you may not like one vs the other)

I would tell you to do a "Dual Boot" installation and see which one you like better. That way you can pick which one loads when you boot your machine.

Hi, you cannot run windows applications on ubuntu. Also The ubuntu installation has a disk partitioner that will let you resize the windows partition so you can install both. Or, you could also erase the entire disk and just have ubuntu installed.

ubunro beryl 2.0 may look very pretty as you would have seen in the video but it has lot of limitations,i know that vista has lot of bugs which are being fixed by updates.but it gives you total freedom ,in ubunto u almost can't do anything.
