Either you are happy, in which case you are not a nice person and should not be in heaven; or you are not happy, in which case you are not in heaven. That's how I see it anyway.

Nobody should be glad to see anyone go to hell, but since God provided only one way for our sins to be forgiven and for us to be able to have a personal relationship with Him, if anyone chooses to reject the way God has made things, then they have nobody to blame but themselves. God gives people every chance to choose Him, and if people reject God's terms, they have to take responsibility for their own actions. God cannot allow sin in His presence, and since those people who reject God's method of forgiveness cannot be allowed in God's presence, they give God no other choice but to send them to hell. Can we make others choose to follow Christ? No, but we can show them through our lives why following Him is the only way to find true peace and joy and meaning in life. Having said that, I should hope that everyone who claims to be a Christian would be focused on doing whatever it takes to tell and show others the love of God through our lives--through Christ living in us--and not sit around wondering who is going to hell.

Proverbs 14:10
Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy.

The English word "hell" comes from the Anglo-Saxon 'helan', which means to cover. Ezekiel 28 and standard saucepan methodology is that you cover hot things. If people prefer living a lifestyle where they are known by which issues they get heated up over (which is high maintenance behaviour and plays havoc with a family because any decent cause is one that you work at, rather than just talk about angrily a lot) then they will be covered over to enjoy that lifestyle without recourse to continuing to wreak havoc in their families. I don't think that hell is literal.

LOL! this is an excellent question! 1st things 1st-i don't believe that since i'm an atheist (Buddhist) that i shall go to hell and all my family are Buddhists too.

But if i were to imagine that i was an ardent christian and the rest of my family were not, then after i go to heaven i would either have to

(1) forget all about the rest of my family who is(or will) roast in hell and be ecstatically happy because i am saved =====which is extremely selfish and unkind and everything bad....or

(2)mope around in heaven=====and if everybody does this it won't be a very nice "heaven" would it?!!

it's a TOTAL PARADOX! :) oh well...

There are only a few who are going to heaven to rule over ones who are left on the earth. Revelation 14:1-4 says that is 144,000. There will be ones who never die, and that are brought back to life that live on the earth forever(john 5:28,29)(Psalms 37:9,10,29) The ones in heaven will rule with Jesus over the ones on the earth. These rulers along with Jesus make up God's Kingdom. Yes, it is an actual government, just like every country has a government,.

How can you be sure that there is a Heaven Or Hell? & if these places do exist, would you be able to tell one apart from the other? & are you assuming that you would go to Heaven & be "saved", & your family would not? How does that work? I don't know about religion, man. It has far too many holes in it for me...& that's a scary thought.

I was wondering the same thing. How can I be happy in heaven if my friends and family are not there, because they refused to go to the church I used to go? What is salvation???

Always remember that eternal life salvation is personal. Its between you and God only. God is not a capricious God. He gives us freedom to choose. If your love ones choose Hell, you can not help but pray, that they change while there is still time to recieve the wonderful grace offer of God through His Son Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Titus 3:5/Romans 4:4-5) Remember that its not even work that He saved us but by just simple faith, trusting Christ as our Lord God and Saviour.

Yes, I could. My unsaved catholic family has had the truth told to them several times and if they are too ignorant and stuck in the "tradition" of a false religion it is their own fault. My immediate family which is my husband and children and grown children are saved because I taught them this. No, I would not be happy if my family went to hell, as it would be very sad, but they will reap as they sew.

It is a very good question. But in Revelation 21:4 it says " Death will be no more, mourning and crying and pain will be no more" so I guess we have to hope and pray that God can and will save all our loved ones...In my life both my parents turned to Christ when they were dying..
