I have a connective tissue disorder (Classical Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) which has made my knees hurt for years, but it's been getting worse lately. What happens is that it starts out as a sharp pain, but turns dull very quickly and then goes away for anywhere from a mnute to almost 24 hours.

Would depression be very likely to cause a sensation like that? I usually think of 'depression' pain as being either a dull ache or very sharp, not a rapid combination.....

I've done yoga for years and still get joint pain. My EDS pain won't completely go away from yoga, ever.

Yes, it's possible that the depression could be causing some of the sensation you are noticing. They are just now starting to understand the physical impact that depression can have. But sometimes illnesses like Ehler's Danlos Syndrome can change over time the longer one has the illness.

I would definitely get in touch with your physician to let them know about what is going on to see what they think about this connection or possibly something else going on at the same time.

Ask your doctor about the drug Lyrica... or Cymbalta. Both of them are good drugs to take that will help with both the depression AND the pain!! They can be "wonderdrugs!" I hope that you are in less pain soon!!
