Everyone is so focussed on keeping out those rotten immigrants overruning our great country. I agree, but I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the heritage(sp) of all us true Americans who were always here from the start. So what kind of native American are you?

I asked my mom what kind of indian we are? she kinda looked at me funny, and said we are from the "newajersan" tribe. I guess that makes sense since we live in new jersey.

So what indian tribe are you from?

I am so proud to be true american, not a fake imigrant. Once we make a law stopping all imigrantion, then only us true natural americans will be here, who were here from the start. God Bless America !

Well, I wish we could all call ourselves native Americans and talk about what Native American tribe we are (without any p.c. issues) because I think anyone who has lived most of their life here is a native American whereas the descendants of the original peoples are indigenous by comparison. An immigrant is someone who came over legally as an adult while an illegal immigrant is just someone living here.

I'm a Southerner and yes I really consider that as a native American tribe(s) but I mean that by place, not race. Well, that's a big tribe but we also have sub-tribes I guess you might say. Many of us have indigenous ancestry as well but the main thing is that we identify with the land here and aren't constantly defining ourselves based on foreign lands elsewhere. Not that it's wrong but by definition it's less American. Sure many of us have ancestry from Europe or Africa, etc. if you go far back enough but our culture is here.

One thing I will say is that I do think to be better Americans we should study the Ancient Americans like the Cherokee, Seminole, Sioux, Navajo, etc. in history more. We can't change the past but we need to know more about it. Most Americans are obsessed with Europe partly because that's what we learn in school but we need to learn more of our own history and "tribes."

Most miss the point, but you are correct. The Native Americans know what happens when you open your borders up. Ever studied the Trail of Tears? I am Cherokee myself, and I am proud of my heritage. The government everyone claims "was built on immigration from the start" has done nothing but steal our land and force us onto reservations in the most inhospitable areas of the nation. Granted, now we are free to move wherever we want, and we have wisened up and make a ton of money off of tourists in our casinos, and our art, which is then reinvested in our tribal schools and healthcare (yes, our minority takes care of its own people instead of expecting the government to do it for us - we know better than that).

LOL, nice post. I'm from China, so I'm just a "fake immigrant." But, historically life began in Africa, so even native Americans immigrated here from Asia. Therefore, your definition of a true American depends on how far back you go in history.
I think people in general should focus less on where others are from and focus more on what values we share.

Didn't "Native" Americans cross the Bering Strait to immigrate to America?

I'm a third generation Euro-American.

We left poverty behind to immigrate to a nation that believes anyone can pull themselves up by their own boot straps. A person with a vision can become whatever one dreams.

I just want my cut of the welfare pie everyone else gets before the nation goes broke.

Well, I'm half Irish and half Welsh, so I guess that makes me one of those rotten immigrants, albeit about 10th generation.

No, actually, I was born in Arkansas, not Irishland. Not even Ireland.

didn't like the nordic (sp) come here first from like somewhere way up north...like the vikings or something???? anyway, no one should hate immigrants...but nice, well behaved legal immigrants is what this nation and all nations require these days...otherwise there is chaos and an unfairness
