Well he was asking me questions about my faith, and he was asking about other religions. So he asked me why I dont call my God (Jesus's father) Allah..since Allah means God. I didnt know what to say. What should I have said?

The Allah of Islam is not the God of Christianity.

The god that Muslims call Allah is not God the Father. Allah has no son. The purpose of the question was to confuse you. Confusion doesn't come from God.

There are many names for God.

God himself said his name is simply, "I AM". Others have used the name Jehovah or Yahweh and several others, but I don't remember them right off the top of my head.

Why use a foreign word, when a good old English word, "God" suffices just fine? Allah is an Arabic word used mainly by Islam to identify God. Same God, by the way. Just different thoughts on what He wants and how He works. Islam came from Abraham's son, Ismael. Abraham's God is the same on that saved Ismael in the desert and told him he would be the father of multitudes and that his people would have enmity towards the children of Israel (Isaac).

While it is true that Arab Christians call the Father "Allah," in place of the word "God," they do not use it as a proper name, as the Muslims do.

If you do not speak Arabic, then why would you use an Arabic name for God? If anything, you would use the English term "God," or if by proper name, "YHWH," (Yahweh) as it was revealed in Exodus 3:14. And, because you are Christian, we hold the doctrine that Jesus is also God, so you can use Jesus as His name as well.

If you want to know God, you need to know what all Jesus said about himself, about God and what u must do. When we ask God to help us out to follow Jesus, He will teach us lot of things and we can tell others boldy.

preaching boldly in the name of the Lord. Acts 9:27
so that I may speak boldly and make known the gospel's secret. Ephe 6:19
able to speak boldly about their faith in Christ Jesus. 1 Titus 3:13

Those who spoke boldly received the Holy Spirit, who taught them what to tell. Even Jesus received Holy Spirit and He spoke with authority. We cannot answer the world with our intelligect, but with God's truth which only Holy Spirit knows.
Read Acts 2:38 also, will be helpful.

What did God tell Moses when Moses asked Him for His name because His people wanted to know. To name a thing is to command a thing. "I am what am". We do not name God and He does not need a name for He just is. Ask your "guy" why not just call God God because that is what He is. Allah is a name ("There is but one god, Allah...."). "God" is not a name, it is what he is.

You should simply tell him that terminology is unimportant, it is the following of teachings (love for all, tolerance, forgiveness, etc.) that defines one's faith.

Corazon means heart in Spanish, but because I don't speak Spanish, I say heart.

'Nuff said.
