I want to know how "Christian" you folks are. Or if you just claim Christianity, just to claim it.......... how many hours will it take for you to come up with an answer? I doubt I get but 5 people to answer this......

Many of you call yourselves Christians; yet never even read the whole bible.

I taught Sunday school for years. I can still recall a LOT about the bible. Don't try to pull the wool over my eyes because I'm not stupid.

John of Patmos wrote the book of Revelation. However, this is not the same John that wrote the gospel. Vocabulary and the content of the book indicate that it is not the same author as the gospel of John. There is really very little that we know about him. All of it can be determined from the book itself. He was probably Palestinian Christian who came from Asia. The Greek version suggests this. He is associated with the author of John, incorrectly however, mostly because people want to affirm the document as representing the apostolic faith. It was written in Patmos.

The date is argued as well. Some say the time of Nero (54-68CE). Others date it everywhere f rom 98 to 117CE. It was certainly one of the later books and came very close to not being added to the canon.

"John of Patmos" which, some say, may have been a nom de plume of Paul of Tarsus!

It's "The Revelation OF John"
not "The Revelation TO John."

Rev. 22:21 is used as evidence for the Paul authorship --
"The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all."

That is Paul's standard sign off!

If it wasn't written by Paul, it may have been written by somebody who had read Paul's letters. This is an argument for it's late authorship.

John the Apostle, whom Jesus loved.

Knowledge does not make us a Christian, God's Holy Spirit dwelling in us, does. It sounds like the Holy Spirit is not living in you. You should not have taught Sunday School. You should allow Jesus to become your Lord and Savior first.

you can get alot of people who will regurgitate the answer, and I'm not saying that people who know the bible are just spewing out knowledge, but I am saying that you also need to see people who claim to be "christian" not only recite answers, but who actually can retain and live the knowledge.
Good question by the way!

This book (Revelation) denotes the things of what John have seen on the message of God regarding what is being done and the things said by Jesus and it was written in Chapter 1,verses 1 and 2:

ev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Rev 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
